New guy from Ontario

G'day, I just passed all my courses (CFSC, OHE, and OFAH Turkey), just waiting on my PAL to come through, being the kind of person I am figure the internet is likely the most valuable resource we have, and wanting to learn more I joined here.

I already have my two firearms on order a Savage chambered in .300WM, and a Mossberg 535 ATS; just waiting for my PAL to come... I should have it already; but Ontario in there infinite wisdom makes us wait another 10 days, which turned out to be over a month, not a big deal, but I will essentially miss the spring turkey hunt.

Living up in Bruce county I see all these people out on opening day, and I got a little jealous, I will just have to wait till the fall, which would allow me to "break in" the guns, and learn all the idiosyncrasies of them.

Cheers,

Kevin

Not yet! Maybe in a month or so, I have watched YouTube videos, and lets say I am preparing myself for it, I am a bigger guy 6'2" and 220, so if I stand a 270lb rugby player trying to take me down, I'm sure I can handle it.

Welcome to the Nutz house hun! Sounds like you are geared to go! Let us know when you get your PAL! You will be so excited, I sure was!
Have fun and play safe!

Thanks, just about geared up, I got off the phone with the RCMP, my references checked out, so I am getting moved forward I guess! With my luck I will get my PAL when I am on vacation next, and miss out on prime turkey days. Oh well!

Welcome, you'll like it here. Do you have your hunting license?

I have pretty much anything other than my PAL, which should be here in a few weeks!

Welcome aboard! :D

Thanks!

Turkey hunting is alot of fun, got a 18.5 pounder yesterday :) My buddy couldn't come out with me. I had three Toms come out after a Jake decoy and two hen decoys I had set out. It was a big decision on which to take out! I took the last one in the scrum and the other two just turned to Tom doing the chicken on the ground probably saying hay, we're getting layed and you are acting the fool on the ground :)

Went and got another tag and I'm going out in tomorrow. Sure beats the last couple of years, broken wrist, knee surgery etc :(

Awesome, congrats on the good luck yesterday, and thanks for the welcome, the problem I am having right now, is most of my friends are into strictly upland hunting and big game, no one has tried turkey yet and they don't seem to want to take it up. I guess I have to go out there myself, and prove to them how fun it can be!

Welcome to the forum!

I just moved to Ontario and have to wait 6 months for a resident hunting license.:(

I'd like to hunt turkey but I guess there aren't any up in Northern Ontario.
