Hello all! I have just sent in docs for my RPAL and I am in the waiting game. I have met a lot of great local people that suggested I check out the site. Glad that I did! Awesome information here!

I am looking to get a few 1000 rounds down something and try out for BB. Any suggestions on what I should be shopping for would be a great help. My background is limited with handguns so I have no preferences nor biases towards any particular brand / model at this point.

Hello and welcome. I think starting a "conversation" like this will work better for you in the General Firearms Discussion forum or one of the more specific forums. This is really just a place to say, "Hello and welcome". Try holding as many handguns as you can and pick something that fits your hand. Enjoy the site.

I'd suggest starting out with a NR, that way you're not old by the time you actually get to shoot it.
Trust me, I went the route you did - and to this day, I regret it.
