Welcome aboard. Have you started the Canadian Immigration process? If not, now would be a good time. Back in 1992, it took my wife approximately 8mths to get her landing papers.......and that went without a hitch. I'm assuming your fiancee won't be gainfully employed at the time of your application, so you'll require proof of funds sufficient funds, guarantees/guarantors re social benefits, which will further complicate the process......its likely you'll have to immigrate into Canada on your own. From my experience, the process was grossly offensive, considering the preferential treatment of refugees, etc. It was a real PITA with all the restrictions and don't contact us, we'll contact you via snail mail B.S.. You'll need a background check for that as well. In addition, you'll have to have a medical exam. The permanent resident card application was another can of worms. Then theres the health card application, social insurance card application, drivers licence, bank accounts and credit card applicatons, etc. I wish you all the luck in the world!
