New half lug 4.2" Ruger GP 100

I'm generally a S&W guy, but this one has me intrigued.

Me too as you cant get a 686 in 4.2 inch without the full underlug.

Please tell me that they are not going to do this on all of the GP100's.
I love the full underlug, to do away with it would be sacrilege!

I don't think so..... this one shaves a bit of weight and has snag free combat type sights.

might not see this baby for 5-10 years

Hopefully they can get back on track....I believe they have expanded their production capabilities.
I scored an Sp101 on the EE a while back and it is my favorite .357mag. Perfect size for a bush carry revolver.

Looks like it's just another option on the web site, still have a full under lug version.

I had a KGP141 in the past, and I like the looks of this model, especially the fiber optic front sight.

I liked that it was a 4.2", but this gun is still a BIG handfull of steel.

I'd get another, and strongly consider this new KGP-141MCF.

Unfortunately a permit is required that I don't have.
Without Govt interference I'd have no problem hiking with a nice little .357mag.

Model 66?

S&W stopped making the Model 66 years ago (and it's a K frame vice the 686's L frame) so getting a Canadian legal one with a 4.2" bbl isn't an option.

One could try and get a 6" Model 66 with a 6" bbl and get it cut to 4.2", I suppose....

Model 66?

The Model 620 would be the closest thing: L Frame with half lug barrel and adjustable sights, but a 7-shot cylinder. Unfortunately, they are discontinued and were only made with 4" barrels.

Yup that is pretty much the most perfect backcountry back-up made IMO. Good balance of power and size/weight. Kicks well with even moderate american eagle loads though so one box at the range is pretty much the limit of my enjoyment.

I have been on several waiting lists for a Sp101 in /.22lr for over a year now!

I haven't seen a GP100 for even longer!

Honestly at this point anything Ruger is just a pipe dream.

At this rate handguns will be banned before we see these...
