Everyone needs to make a profit, and it costs to import guns into Canada. In most cases the prices charged by Canadian retailers are fair.

Sometimes however some prices stand out when they are nearly double the US Price.

Two Examples:

CRAFN: Springfield Armory TRP Operator $2624CDN
US Price: $1430 US

Elwood Epps: COLT SAA Nickeled $2372 CDN
US Price: $1424 US

People pay these prices and then try to get their money back on the EE!

Do you know of any other new handgun prices that are way out of line?

(This is not attacking CRAFN or Ellwood. I bought 2 GLOCK's from Ellwood this year. These two prices are just unusually high)

Oh look another thread comparing our prices to those in the States. WHAAAAAAAAA WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAA.WE DON'T CONSUME AS MUCH AS AMERICA. Among many other things. Bringing those guns in cost money. Lots of it.

Well Buffalo Gun Centre will bring any gun you want over the border for 100 bucks. You just pay taxes on the american price. I am thinking my next purchase is going to happen this way. I live right at the border so I guess I am lucky. Point is it makes all the import, and paperwork arguments obsolete. If they can do it all for 100 bucks something is wrong here.

Is that true, I've never heard of it before. I know we have a site sponsor that brings over guns from the US, but I think his fees are more in the $250 range.

Well almost.....

they will not bring the gun over the border, but they will bring it to the border, and once you have finished paying the Canadian taxes, you will get your firearm, put it in your trunk, and have a safe drive home.

You pay GST/PST on the amount of the gun once converted to CDN funds.

Yes they do all the paper work, even the Canadian Import we require, and all of there US required paperwork.

And yup it's a 100 bucks (US) and 50 for each additional gun on the same bill......

Don't forget no taxes to pay in Buffalo on the firearms

I see a road trip.........in my future...

Are you sure about this??

It costs a hell of a lot more that $100 to import a firearm. Buffalo may have brought in guns for a $100 fee 5 years ago....

Buffalo will fill out the export permits they require to get the firearm to the Canadian border and they will send it there but that's it. It's still the buyer's responsibility to fill out the Canadian import permit and get the firearm into the CFC's system. The site sponsor includes this in their fee. I really don't understand all the moaning and groaning about pricing....the two handguns the OP mentioned are not even 'high demand' pieces here in Canada so the wholesaler/retailer won't get volume pricing. I don't think some here don't realize just how small the Canadian firearms market is when compared to that of the US....

Well I am going to call and find out, but even the site sponsor Daves only charges 150. I heard this from a fellow CGNer who did it recently. The thing with BGC is you have to go pick it up, they follow you to the border and you deal with the paperwork at canadian customs.

Wrong....sorry, but they do ALL the paper work, even the Canadian Import Permit, and it is mailed directly to your mailbox

This is the main issue here in Canada. We just need to start buying a hell of alot more guns.

Don't like the Canadian prices? Here is what you do.

Buy a store, pay all you employ, keep the lights on, pay the taxes for the business, for the guns, buy business licence, pay for the firearms licence, pay someone to do all the paperwork required to buy and sell firearms, pay all the shipping and the import fees.
Go ahead, I dare you! No, then shut up and pay for all the work that went into getting that $ 500.00 U.S. gun to you.

Well Ftaview I wasn't gonna mention your name but looks like you are on top of things anyways. You must have a job like mine. I am on this site all the time at work. Keeps the clock ticking.

yup, sit at a computer all day at work, and then on the laptop at home....

isn't it great........

do call BGC, please, they are still open, and ask if their fee is still 100 bucks

we can confirm this once again, tonight.....
