New Handgun

Y'know what, they're all good in the end, so really the best idea is to go and try shooting them if you can, because the pistol that will be the best for you is the one that fits your hands the best. That's pretty much it as far as I've found. I think a lot of people end up selling pistols pretty much after they've bought them because the pistol just doesn't fit their hands or they don't like the trigger or something like that.
I'm looking at Barettas, Sigs (check out the new P250!) and Springfield XD9s currently, and I kinda like all of them--- having trouble picking one.

I am currently looking at Beretta 92, Beretta 90-Two, S&W M&P, and the Glock 17. I wasn't completely impressed with the first Glock I held. The 90-TWO seemed like the best. But I haven't held the M&P yet.

Hello everyone,

Looking for advice on a new 9mm, any opinions that you'd like to share? so many to choose from so little time......Thanks everyone!

Pick the one that fits your hand the best. From experience, regardless of the cost.

My personal 9mm choice is the BHP MkIII, followed by the 1911 single stack.

Your mileage may vary.... ;) :)

STI 1911 in 9mm will be my next one(Ranger II) Have a Colt Combat Commander in 9mm and had a S+W 5906 in 9mm. I like the 1911 single stack over the Glock or Sig's. Get a quality handgun in whatever fits you the best.

I got the s&w m&p 9 for my first pistol and love it. It's a good price and I think the rebate offer is still on but not sure. If it is 600-650$ for the gun and four mags.

I think Frontier even has MPs on sale for $500.
I haven't shot one of those yet, so I don't know what to think of them.
I like shooting the XD9 as I like a pistol with a even weight distribution. Don't really care for Glock triggers, and the USP is too light on the barrel end for me.
I also like shooting the 229 Sigs, they are great in 9mm.

All depends on $$, fit, and intended use.

For target shooting, eg PPC, a DA\SA will give you a different trigger pull between first and subsequent shots,,, on the other hand, decockers are sure nice to have.

Trigger pull - (I have Walther P99, and a couple of CZ's), but if I could find a gun that fit in the rules, I'd have a Para LDA in a heartbeat (closest thing to a revolver I've experienced)

For accuracy, relatively small $$, and simplicity... CZ 85 Combat or CZ 75 (need to decide between adjustable sights, or decocker,,, OR put adjustable sights on a CZ 75B. Want to spend more $$$,, lots of choices,, S&W M&P is also very nice, and built like a Mack truck..

IMHO...

S&W Military and Police are on special at Frontier in 9mm or .40 with a holster for $549.99 after rebate.

Im still gonna say stay away from the S&W 9mm (although I dont hate mine now)

if you want to spend ~$600 get a Grand Power K100 mk6

if you want to spend more than $1K, go for a SigSauer P226

Guarantee work but expensive: Sig and HK.
Guarantee work but ugly; poor trigger pull: Glock ( I have a G17 and love it)
Work super, reliable and accurate but inexpensive( CZ 75B, or SP 01)
Ruger: not common seen at IPSC.
Beretta 92FS, One of the best in the market but people either love it or hate it, no one stand at the middle, that said I love it.
M&P: Damn good price for a nice gun.
I used to say try something fit the hand but now I won't say that because my Glock doesn't feel good in hand but shoot better than my CZ which feel very comfortable. buy something you like and able to afford. They all good.

I like everything about my K100 target except the safety should be stiffer.
If you can try one out, I think you should.

had a new glock 17 and it was poo
had a beretta M9 and loved it
had a walther P99 and loved it, although it was "snappy"
had a beretta 96D and sold it becuase it didnt handle recoil so well
now have a sig 226 in .40, and wonder why I wasted all that time with other pistols!

top choices:
Beretta or Sig.

I have found with firearms that you get what you pay for. Anything under $800 is not even worth considering in my books.

Sig 226
CZ 85c or 75B stainless
Glock for all around

Those would be my choices. However a Ruger MKIII in .22 shold be on your list as well.
