New Hatsan Escort MP for Action shooting

I am not a shotgun snob by any means, but the Italian manufacturers sure make some great shotguns. Beautiful styling, and very functional. Even some of their smaller companies are producing some great guns. The Egyptians are well known for making....... what was that again? Pyramids and Sphinxters. LOL.

These are from TURKEY...what does Egyptians have anything to do with it.

I personally wouldn't buy either, but the Benelli are going to be a lot more than 150 bucks. A plain jane nova runs around mid 500-low 600. A tacticool one usually goes for a bit more for the ghost ring sights and PG.

Dont under estimate Turkish shotguns.Turks are making good quality guns at reasonable price.
Btw,Mossberg,Weatherby and S&W's few shotguns models r made in Turkey.

I don't know what these things are like, but I do know that the first and only time I picked up a Hatsan, I thought that if I kept shaking it, the thing would fall apart. The thing rattled more than a old K Car with 400 000 miles on it.

It's probably too late to redeem myself but after some thought I would say that if the 350.00 price is accurate and that's all a person can afford and you really want that look... then go ahead. I recall the first shotgun I purchased while in high school many years ago was a Spanish made double barrel .410. The Spanish made some very good guns. This 50.00 example was not one of them. I was now broke, and had a gun that barely worked. I eventually upgraded as funds allowed and now many years later I buy Fabarms and Benelli's. The point I am trying to make is a person has to try to balance quality with price. Remington is a perfect example. Not the best quality on the market, but IMO the best value as they are very good quality and decent pricing. Bling out a used Remington and you probably won't regret it.

here's my new fabarm 14" sorry for the cell phone shot.

have you guys handled a nova? its a plastic piece of ####....if you're gonna buy a plastic piece of #### you might as well get the cheapest one you can find....

The new Hatsan looks cool, wouldnt mind one without the muzzle access.s and diff. sights.

Seriously...if you think a Benelli Nova is a "quality" gun, you got ####in rocks in your head....

I have a Hatsan Escort Marine model (Thats Marine as in shipboard use, not as in USMC) The feed mech does feel a bit rough, but besides that I've had no problems (only about 200 rds so far) I like the way the shotgun points, feels nice and intuitive for me. Plus it was my dad's gun.

its glaringly apparent that they ripped off the Nova/Supernova styling - with some added crappy bling.

regarding the prices: i would still spend the ~$150 or so more and buy a Nova/Supernova for the Benelli quality factor alone.

I would have to disagree about crappy bling.

Im around 800+ rounds with only light 7 1/2 loads on a Hatsan MP-A semi with no FTF so far. BTW it has not been cleaned and still shoots trouble free.

The sights are not cheep nor crappy. They use TruGlo fibre optics: red on the front and green for the back.

BOTH front and rear sights are adjustable - whats cheep about that for slug target shooting ?

What is unusual is the way the trigger is set up, its hinged forward. But as u can see on this vid, a fast trigger pull is not a problem:

Please note the lack of muzzle rise on that rapid fire sequence. The gun may not have the aluminium aftermarket parts like my tact 870( see pic below) but its way lighter !

Here is probably the only MP-A right now with a modded ATI rear stock adaptor :

The problem is not fit and finish vs. M2 or Fabarm or Weatherby. Its close enough, at least with several hundred rounds.

The main concern is PARTS and support from the manufacture years down the road.

Tactical aftermarket parts for the HATSAN is NOT there but a M2, M4 they too have little to choose from as well.

Im not sure about spare parts availability yet on a M4 but I willl be finding out soon when my restricted version comes in from out west.

Anyhow just my 2cents on this..

How is that Truglo red dot sight after firing 200+ rounds?does it still hold zero?

The Truglo sight is marketed for turkey hunters. I understand they use 3" mag shells for hunting - where my sole purpose for my set-up is for 3 gun and practical shotgun which uses light target loads. Even the odd slug rounds that is asked for in a practical run, I use the same light load but witha 1oz lead slug.

It all holds zero for me while shooting at steel plates up to 10M.

BUT ! What did not hold was NOT the Truglo but the picatinny rail on the MP-A.

The 3 hex screws loosened from around 500 rounds but that was a simple fix of tightening down with Loctite.

The Truglo sight retained zero again afterwards.

For aftermarket parts.
Our fabarm/tristar ambi single point sling mount fits.
Our 4 shot DSC shell holder fits on the frame.
CDM gear light clamps all fit.
Hope that helps
