Noticed on Henry's website that they are starting to make single shot rifles in full power calibers. Any ideaif these exist in Canada, yet? I'm thinking that one in 45-70 would be a hoot.

The steel 45/70 has an msrp of only $427. That should translate to just shy of 600 before tax. I would totally be interested in one for that sort of price!

Although it looks like North sylva is the importer for Henry so they'll call it a DMR single shot and charge $1200 for it...

Snooping on the American Cabelas site, they're listed at $369.99usd which would be about $475cad. The usual FU that canadian pricing gets shouldn't bump it past $600 from the little guys.

They have been making them for almost a year... I priced them out and and was quoted $699 and $720 by two vendors... plus tax and shipping... unless they come out with a better configuration, I will pass. I had a dialogue with Anthony regarding my desire to see an octagon barrelled .30/30 and .45/70... don't know if it means anything but he sent me a nice "thank-you" gift package.

$699 for a gun that sells for $369 down south? Ugh. Might have to see what IRG can do for us with those kinda prices...

An octagon barrel would be cool, but I'm not sure I'd want to pay much of a premium for one. These seem like a perfect entry point to the 45-70, so people like me can figure out if its a cartridge they like without having to drop $900+ on a Marlin or twice that on a No.1.

I think IRG charges US$200, so $370+200=C$733

Not if we can convince them the demand is there and its something they should put into their regular stock. Then its only what, $25 to get it into Canada, plus shipping to your door from their warehouse in Alberta?

Cabelas is also listed as a Canadian importer. Maybe they'll bring them in for a reasonable price?

I want to see henry make a combo gun in centerfire calibers while we are dreaming. Pity about the price on these at 450 they would be a steal

Considering just the receiver half of a t/c encore is like $700 and that doesn't include the barrel, even at just shy of 600 these would have potential. Particularly the 45-70, but possibly others too.

The Long Rangers looked cool.... except for the BLR price tag.

Don't know if that is a real detractor. The couple I've handled definitely felt better than any blr I know of. Slimmer profile, flush fit magazine, much better trigger. If I had to choose between the two the long ranger is the one I would go with. Currently just waiting to see if they put one out in .338 federal or 7mm-08

Imo you pay for modularity and caliber selection with the tc, but I couldn't justify buying one of those either recently. Guess I'm just stingy, if henry starts offering a wide variety of more boutique calibers like other single shot mAnufacturers I might get into it
