Has anyone tried this? How long has it been on their website as maybe I just looked it over and didn't notice it.

I am wondering if this is the same one they offered before that had problems or if it is a new one.

Only $279 too.... curious..... very curious..:D :D

Hi-Power Clone?

If it's this one, it's the same pistol that people didn't think much of before:

Don't waste your money. If the price is too good to be true, then it's not worth it. You know that it will be another cheap, chinezy copy and you'll just be disapointed with the gun in the long run.

Don't let "Only $279" curiousity go to Marstar. If you want a Hi-Power, buy a High-Power. Used one can be reasonably priced

Personaly I would not recommend any Norinco products, but that's just my opinion. Some people do like them.

Norinco makes a direct copy of the Hi-Power also, I think it is the NP-40, looks closer to the BHP, the NP-18 was not a happy gun.

I've heard conflicting things about this pistol. I seem to remember a range report for some time before the crash that was pretty favourable.

The NP-40 is a CZ-85 clone in .40 S&W

I agree, if you truly want a High Power, save your money for an FN made HP in 9mm. A few of them turn up once in a while. I just sold an excellent cond. FN made (Herstal, Belgium) with typical Mil/Police epoxy painted finish. This pistol shot like a laser beam. I sold it for $ 500 here on the CGN EE Forum.

If you must buy a Norinco since the prices are so cheap, buy an NP29, the 9mm version of the 1911.

The FEG P9's are available too if you really want a copy.;) FEG makes (made?) a straight copy of the HP and a DA/SA version that Norinco copied for the NP-18. It combines a S&W DA/SA trigger mech with the HP.

They're cheaper than the FN HP's and are better quality than the Norincos.

I have one of the Norinco NP-18's. Poorly made gun - jams all the time. Sometimes it won't feed properly, sometimes it won't extract properly, sometimes it won't eject properly and stovepipe jams are common. The trigger is rougher than a cat's tongue on sandpaper and it's so loose that it rattles. If you're a budding gunsmith or want to get in a lot of immediate action drills practise then it might suit you but if you actually want to shoot a gun then look for something else (anything else!) If you ever wondered what happened to all those Pintos, Chevettes and K-Cars that graced our highways in the 70's and 80's - they were crushed, sold to China, smelted down and came back to us as these @#$%^&*! pistols.

The fit and finish is terrible and it has sharp edges. Pass. Norinco also made a double action HP type (Browning made one, the BDA) and at least one made it to Canada. Saw it for sale here.

what's good about Norinco

Is there any cheap and good gun out there? Yes, the answer is Norinco! Try to search through different forum in the internet, and you'll find a lot of good recommendation on norinco and the dealer: Marstar. I owned 7 norinco before but choose to own only three now. These are the best and you can find a lot of threads here talking about them. So, if you want to buy norinco gun, go for NZ85B, 1911a1 and NP29 (1911copy in 9mm). You'll never go wrong.;)
