Ryan - do these need sunlight to work, or do they have a rechargeable battery in them so they can work in the dark?

The HS403GL says second generation motion sensor. What was the improvement? I heard that some sights weren't able to auto on from previous generation.

They do I have the first model
Great sight by the way holds zero

I have to give my carbine a nice firm shake front back or side side whatev your pref
It works but it's not pick it up and ON its pick it up give the gun a jerk in your preference direction and ON

Canada Ammo, what's the differences between this new Holosun HS502C and the HS515C ? (which I already bought from you a while ago)
Looks dimensionally bigger, is it a wider lens too? Hard to tell from photos without them beside each other.
Does it come with all the hi and low riser mount options of the HS515C?

Looks like the only physical difference from the HS403G to the HS403GL is the new lo-rise adjusting knobs. That's a good idea, as the originals do stick up quite noticeably.
The 'auto-wake' works fine on my original HS403G too. But maybe there were some that didn't so they improved the sensor. At least it's good that they keep improving the models, if it wasn't for the fact that now I want the new ones. ;-D

Can you remove the flip up scope covers? I have one of the old ones and finally just cut them off - very annoying. Great sight though.

I'm thinking of picking one up, but suffer from astigmatism. Most all my current RDS give me a perceived "smeared" appearance of the dot/ring. I assume these will display the same for me? I have noticed that some RDS do not give this effect. Can any of the current users give me any input on this product?

Mine doesn't come on by itself, regardless of any amount of jerking, shaking, etc.

To the other guy, without my spectacles my dot is distorted, pretty clean with them on. I have very mild astigmatism.

I have astimagtism issues too. So, I sold my RDS and bought a prism sight - a Vortex Spitfire 1x. These are more like a scope, but the size of an RDS. The reticle is etched into the glass and can be lit or unlit, which is great if your battery goes dead. Got it on sale at Cabela's the Calgary opening for $279. I have seen them go on sale occasionally for $299.

There are other brands of prism sights (Burris, Vortex, Leupold, Cabela's house brand), and some have magnification. The trade-off is that you don't have the unlimited eye relief with a prism sight that you have with an RDS.
