Love the appearance, and the co-witness is bang on. I have not had the time to range test it but I am expecting good things. I'll review when I get the time

Since my new Colt IUR has no iron sights, what base would work best with this Holosun?
I don't need to worry about co-witness but I am concerned about how high the optic needs to be for comfort.

It's either gonna be absolute or 1/3 co-witness height for an AR. There isn't enough difference between the two for either to not be comfortable. If you are planning to run fixed sights at some point get a 1/3 mount (which I believe comes with the sight)...if you are gonna run flip up sights either is fine.

Can Ammo sells both absolute and 1/3 height Holosun mounts at a pretty decent price, (in comparison to other brands' mounts), so I got both height mounts from them, just in case I ever change my BUIS set-up or decide to use the scope on a different gun where the sight picture suits the other height. Just an idea for ya. Since they were cheap enough, I figure having the two mounts available whenever you need them is handy. And you know what Red Green said about being handy. ;-D

I have a no name rip off that has the LED at 6:00 position and pretty much screws any co-witness.

True story, a buddy was shooting his VZ58 beside me when his side mount gave way sending the holosun direct onto concrete from about a 5 foot drop.
Still works to this day.
