New Hornady 6.5 PRC

So what does this do that 6.5-284 Norma or 6.5x55AI don't do? Why are hornady and Nosler releasing crap like this and the 22 Nosler or 30 Nosler? If they want to come out with something new make it at least
Perform better than other stuff.

With a magnum bolt face this thing pales in comparison to the 6.5 Remington mag which is a short action with a mag bolt face. I don't get it.

Sounds like a 6.5 gap specs? Not sure if shoulder/neck is the same, but ya looks interesting.

I think I like it, kinda like my 6.5RM.

Throttle monkey - it will fit in a short action and that appeals to a lot of people, what does a 6.5/284 do that a 6.5/06 can't besides waste space in a long action?

A 6.5-284 can and will fit into a short action, as will it's parent case the 284 Winchester. A COAL of 2.960" is also pushing it for some true short action rifles. In the pic it says short/medium action. So if you use it in a short action you'll probably have to seat your bullets deep a la 6.5-284, and it is completely outclassed by the 6.5 Rem mag. Put it in a standard action and it's doing the same thing as 6.5-284, 6.5x55AI & 6.5-06 but with harder to find brass.

If it floats your boat, that's cool. It doesn't do anything groundbreaking to me.

They haven't come up with much new in 40 years.

No one has legitimize 65-284 or any of the ai, so if you want to find brass and such, this will at least be available for a few years.

I still want a 264Win....I have a 257Wby and a 7mmRem, but I think the 264 is just right.
I could care less about short or long action...

Interesting new cartridge for 6.5 fans. Great caliber, be interesting to see where this cartridge goes. 6.5's are seeing a resurgence in popularity, so it may be a bit of a winner.
