New hunter.... Deer license questions?

So I took my tag into a local firearm/ hunting store, where the knowledgeable staff quickly got into an argument over this. My friend has a WMU specific bow only antler less tag, that was easy, mine just says deer license and there are no restrictions. All I wanted to know when I can use a muzzle loader in that WMU because my friend though a muzzle loader can only be used in a controlled hunt when party hunting.

And is it a "muzzle loader" or "black powder", as in can one hunt with a muzzle loader with smokeless powder?

Check the regs. Each WMU with a controlled hunt will specify the firearms allowed. I can't speak to muzzle loaders specifically as I don't use them. I use a shotgun on the controlled hunt.

ML can be used during any rifle season, or during a specific controlled hunt allowing ML
