If they are the kind of boot I'm picturing Scarpas to be you'll need to do more than wear them around the house. Those are mountaineering boots and have much stiffer soles/frames. They are designed that way to begin with. Mountaineering boots take a long time to break-in and even only do it to a point. Oiling them helps but you're still in it for tr long haul with boots like that.

Which Scarpas did you go with?, I just bought a pair of Scarpa SL Activ, for my hew hunting boots. There are the only Leather ones without gore-tex.
