i bought a pair of new scarpa boots .all leather .is it normal for these boots to take a while to break in .there a solid boot .any suggestions .

I just oil them really good and wear them around the house for a couple of days watching tv etc.
Slow and steady wins the race

If they are the kind of boot I'm picturing Scarpas to be you'll need to do more than wear them around the house. Those are mountaineering boots and have much stiffer soles/frames. They are designed that way to begin with. Mountaineering boots take a long time to break-in and even only do it to a point. Oiling them helps but you're still in it for tr long haul with boots like that.

^^^^^Pretty much that. If they are mountaineering boots you can expect them to be very stiff for the life of the boot(and also expect them to last for many years). My ice climbing/winter mountaineering Scarpa's have been so awesome that I am very tempted to buy a summer mountaineering boot from them as well for warm weather alpine hiking, goat hunting, and general purpose hunting boots, build quality is very good. Mine made the sole of my foot cramp a bit on the first day out in them, but since then they have been excellent, have done round trip approaches of 20km in a single day with ice climbing gear on my back, plus climbing in the middle and my feet have been comfortable all day, no hot spots. Many people do like to use a aftermarket insole though, you may want to consider that if they are a bit uncomfortable.

My Scarpas took about 80km to break in. I just wore them every chance I could get prior to hunting season. They are now 7 years old and now are finally showing their age. Mountains are not friendly on boots.
