New hunting partner

You can use dogs to track big game in Ontario? That is specifically outlawed in the hunting regs here in AB
Depending on the unit, you can run deer ( and moose and bear) with hounds. It seems to be a dying tradition though. Used to be you would hear hounds baying everywhere, now it's rare indeed. Returning lost hounds used to be a yearly event too, sometimes 10-12 miles from home.

This is my dog. She is a blue tick cross and looked very similar to yours as a puppy. I take her up the mountains for goats. Couldn’t ask for a better dog
Very close in pattern. My pup has the floppy coon dog eats. Definitely hound attitude

While I don't have any mountains where I live I'm hoping she will hunt. I'm already planning a sidecar sorta thing for my kayak for her

New dogs are always an adventure. My hunting buddy got a new pup Duke that Boone took a liking to , gonna be a fun season.

I've always had beagles and labs growing up. Then rescued a litter of Basset hound puppies someone tied in a garbage bag and left in a ditch. I kept the weakest one and he gave me the best 5 years of any hound before the cancer took him

After that I moved on to mastiffs as my lifestyle changed. I'll always keep a mastiff breed but I've decided to make more time to hunt and want my daughter to experience hunting over a dog. Until now she's only known dogs as guardians and protectors. Her and this puppy are separatable and my mastiff follows them everywhere keeping overwatch

I've never had a true bird dog. Always liked the looks of the Gordon setters though
