After much debate, you likely saw it on here with all my questions, I took the plunge and found a new hunting partner.

My friends, meet RADAR!

Radar is a 5 week old Brittany Spaniel. I've been hemming and hawing about a dog for a while now but recent coversations on here gave me a kick in the pants.

He won't be coming home for 2 weeks but that gives me time to get the house ready, his house and the yard. I don't think I've been this excited since I had to wait for my first rifle to be approved by the CFC.

There should be just enough time to get some training in so he can at least come with us hunting this fall, maybe not participate fully, but at least he'll be big enough to come for the experience.

Nice pup.

Almost have my wife convinced on a German shorthair to replace our pepper which we had to put down in the spring.

You sure ware a lot of jewelry for a guy????

Oh, you noticed my bling !?

No, it was a 90 minute trip to the kennel from my house so I called my friend who was back from University to go on a road trip to Saskatoon for the day. She had a blast playing with all the puppies and nearly bought one herself before I reminded her that she couldn't take it to her dorm room in the fall.

Then she attempted to name MY puppy sweetpea. Come on, Sweetpea?

Radar is way better. He's a bird dog and radar detects things that fly right? And really, Radar was the best character on MASH. Hands down.

Can't wait to get him home.

Good luck with the Britt. You will be more then pleased I am sure.
I had to put my faithfull britt "Shady" down in November after 15 years of loyal service.
Best of luck spend some good quality time training him.
As a well trained dog makes things soooo much better.

I have owned many dogs, trust me you will fall in love very quick. My fav quote is from John Wayne " if their are no dogs in heaven, send me to hell"

Excellent! Now spend the next five weeks reading dog training books so you are ready for your new best friend. I can suggest a few if need be. Being a dog owner isn't always easy but definately is rewarding.
BTW, puppy = girl magnet.

Sounds like you picked one of Danielle's pups. She has some great lines and is a very good breeder/resource to work with. Congrats and enjoy the journey!

Ok, what part of Saskatchewan are you in, and when do "we" get to use your dog !!!:D

Nice pup !!!

Nice pup caster. Got to love those eyes...

Best of luck with you're new pup. Just remember puppies love\need to chew, and will on everything in their reach, you like it or not.

See avatar pic.

So try to get ALL valuables out of reach of it's inquisitive jaws.:)
Like computer cables, shoes , furniture, etc...

Awesome! Good for you! I made the plunge last year with a weimaraner pup, thinking I would have just one, WRONG! Now we have another pup here at home so things went from comfortably busy to insane. But I love my pups, and there is no better feeling in the world than hunting over a good bird dog that you trained. I have always hunted birds, and it was always about getting as many birds as possible for the kitchen, now I just want to watch the dogs work.

Congratulations and good luck!!:dancingbanana:

Working on getting the house ready as we speak. I have a mud room that will become his bedroom and "quiet" area, the yard is getting a look over to make sure there are no holes in the fence that I don't know about, and the parts have been ordered for a dog run along the side of the house. I also signed up for a puppy course, kind of an introduction to obedience training.

Tomorrow, I'll go looking for a bed, a dog box, collar and maybe some chew toys.

9 days left....
