I might be selling my Remington BDL 7mm rem mag to a friend so I will need to fill its spot in the gun locker.

I want to stick with centerfire bolt action hunting rifles.

So far the other centerfire hunting rifles I have are

Winchester m70 lightweight sporter .270 win
Winchester m70 Stainless ultimate shadow 300 WSM
Remington 30-06 Stainless mountain rifle w/Bansner stock
Remington Sendero SF 300 ultra mag
Remington BDL stainless 338 win mag
Remington BDL stainless 375 H&H mag

What do you think would fit in with the rest of the family?

You sure don't need anything else in the .270 to 300 range...Basically, you don't need anything in the deer/antelope/elk/sheep/moose/bear range...

You could go alot bigger with a .458 etc, but you already have a 375 H&H, which is really as big as you need to go in North America...But you really dont' have anything on the bottom end for yotes and stuff.

I'd get a 22-250, or a ,223;)

Your right the 375 is as big as I need
I was thinking of a 223, I had a 22-250 and the muzzle blast was incredible. A small caliber plinker/ varmint rifle would be cool I supose

The idea of a short action perhaps in a model 7 has also come to mind.
7mm-08 has always interested me but the 308 ammo is more avaliable. Todd Bartell is always raving about the 260 remington.

I also have about 8 boxes of remington cor-lokt 25-06 ammo left over from when I had a couple of those so that warrents another rifle right there!!

I already have dies for 22-250, 223, 6.5x55, 7mm-08, 25-06

I guess I could buy a couple of stevens 200's but I'm not sure if I want to taint my gunlocker with cheap guns, no- offence to those who have them its just not what I'm into, but I may break down and give'em a try.

Keep the suggestions coming, my decision isn't even close to being made yet. So many nice calibers and rifle combo's and so little money.

How bout a Remington Ti in a 260...nice little short action or a Remington CDL in .243, nice classy looking rifle good for coyotes. You definitly need something on the lower end for calibres, you have everything else covered.

good suggestions there on the Ti 260 or CDL 243

A new Model Seven CDL in 260 would be great, when they come available :)

You've already got everything covered. Why not get a really nice high end scope for one of your other rifles?

You seem to like Stainless, so how about a Remington 700 SPS Stainless in .243?

Dammit! What Ted said. I hate it when he's right (and says it better than I woud have). ;)

223 sporter of course. You can load them for less than 25 cents a round. Barrel doesn't heat. Great for practice and varmints. We talk up the deer rifle and the thumper, but a complete battery needs a good 223 too.

Brambles, it's time to fess up and tell us what you'd like to have.
You must have some idea?
Or are you just giving us something to argue about?? :p

Sorry
I am inbetween nightshifts right now so I was sleeping allllllll day.

There are so many cool rifles avaliable, I wouldn't mind a m700 223 to practice with and possibly shoot some black pheasants or coyotes, hell I wouldn't have a problem head shooting deer with it either with the right bullet.

But there seems to be a hole between .270 and .30 that needs filling. One of the most accurate rifle I have owned was a 7mm-08 m700 HB. I can't recall If I have ever heard of a 7-08 that didn't shoot well.

BUT 308 is more avaliable, more power and larger frontal area, however I have a number of 30 cal rifles already.

Then there is a little voice in my head that says I want a short action that shoots a fat bullet like a 350 remington mag, or 338 imperial( if there was a rifle factory chambered for it). Unfortunaltly the 350 rem mag is only chambered in two rifles right now a Ruger ( eeewww) and a 673 guide gun????don't really like the vent rib on it!!!

I have a bunch of rifles that will zip right through an animal but there is alot of wasted energy with them. I am also thinking of something that will dump all its energy into the animal, really nail it hard and barely exit, just kind of drop out the other side to provide a better blood trail.

As you can see I am having a real problelm with this one, I am looking for something Factory chambered

HELP PLEASE, DON'T GIVE UP ON ME YET
