Caught the first couple episodes, seems like a very well done show. Lots of firearm handling, good shots taken. Second episode guide has a guest who wanted to bow hunt, couldn't shoot straight. Guides wouldn't allow him to take the bow.

Check it out , I'm sure you won't be disappointed. And it's on discovery. Score one for the hunters!

Saw the advertising for this last week, kinda curious as to how it turned out I didn't get a chance to watch it. Always glad to see a hunting show get some mainstream attention, hopefully this one isn't as full of dumbass rednecks as a few of the others. Even as a somewhat redneck myself I find them a tad embarrassing sometimes. I guess whatever sells TV in the big city.....

Absolutely no rednecks in this show. They show respect for the animal after it's down, excellent gun safety is shown. The second episode, the client hits a 9 foot bear a little high, bear charges. First guides rifle jams, second guide put it down 20 feet away. Far and away the best hunting show I have watched in a long time. Well produced.

I don't see it in the program guide for down under on discovery, although we have a few like "Alaskan last frontier", "mountain men", an one or two others.... More so shows life in the backcountry than hunting, although hunting is a big part of their life so we get to see some shooting...
not the best portrayal for hunters , some average shots an some effin around.. bottom line is though they need it to survive.

I enjoy them all an would love to see this Kodiak!

cheers

watched the first two episodes, really impressed with both the show and discovery airing it. good stuff.
I don't watch a tonne of tv but I set this one in my pvr :D

As a long time outfitter and guide, I enjoyed the first show, ...something I could relate to, and their ethics were good. Now to see the next shows and if they get into the stupid scripting by unknowns.

That's a good endorsement right there. I enjoyed it too. Makes me want to quit and start guiding. Of course Gold Rush will come back on in the fall and then I'll want to quit and mine for gold. Probably better I stay right where I am.

It might be streaming on the Discovery site or available on their app.

Oh wait, I should have translated that to bogan for you...

Sounds like a good show, I'll have to try to catch a couple episodes.

Tell you what, I have always respected big bear guides, after seeing how fast they charge after being wounded, bear guides must have balls of steel to keep their cool like that and make a stopping shot. Wow.... Made the hair on my neck stand up.

Actually if you look it up they had a show on last year on hgtv, "building Alaska" I think it was called. Anyway shows the whole family building that guide camp. Was a great start to finish and all the off the grid features they added. Seen that they had this show with the same persons, was all over it!!

I like how it was made clear by several cost members that you have to be a guide apprentice for 3 years before you can guide on your own. I assumed there was some sort of prerequisite but didn't know it was a full three years. Lends credibility to the craft and shows that Henry Joe Blow can't roll in off the street and call himself a guide.
