New IDPA Rulebook 2017.3

It is also on the www/idpa.com website along with the new Match Directors Guide. There are only minor changes to both. For SSP, IDPA added manufactures slide cuts to the approved section. For ESP. CDP, and CCP shooters may have slide cuts in the slide done by outside providers. Slide cuts in several models now offered by manufacturers are being offered as a result of the use of slide mounted Optics. The slide cuts do reduce muzzle rise somewhat but are there principally to lighten the slide to offset the added weight of the optic. These amendments were scheduled to be added to the 2017 RB but were apparently overlooked in the final printing.

There used to be a classifier match. A 3-stages one. Now there is brand new one multi-string 3-stages classifier for PCC only and a new one-stage classifier for everything else. And the old 3-stages one is still there. Go figure.

There still is. The Handgun Classifier is not part of the RB. You can find it from the main page of www.idpa.com. Click on Rules at the bottom of the page and click on IDPA Rules. The Classifier for Handguns is set out there. Nothing has changed from the 2017 changes made to reflect the use of "fault Lines" and adjustments to the Classifier to better reflect how IDPA is shot.

Ah ha. Except those classifiers hasn't been posted to the public yet. No idea what RB is, but I wonder how MD is supposed to run a pcc-only stages...

euxx I am not sure which classifier you want to discuss. All of the Classifiers have been published and are available to IDPA members. The handgun Classifier hasn't changed over last year. The PCC Classifier has just been finalized and is now published. The MD has an option he can run a PCC Match or he can run a combined match. If it is the latter than the stages would have to reflect the confines that exist for handguns ie maximum distance for scenario stages is 20 yards.

FYI we have used our carbines after our pistol match in the past using the stages we used for the handgun match and it great fun. Had HQ asked me, and they certainly didn't, I would have limited the carbines to the same restrictions we have on handgun stages. It would have made life a lot easier, and retained the "self defense" theme of the sport. I do believe the background of those involved, decided to extend the use of the division perhaps as a stand alone event at some point. It would appear they were influenced by the sport of 3 Gun and the fact there are no or less mag restrictions on semi auto carbines in the US. Why else would you go with 30 round mags on stages limited to 18 rounds? It seems the art of doing fast reloads is something you might want to test in a sport beyond just accuracy.

For us in Canada the question is moot since we are limited to 10 rounds if we use pistol mags in pistol caliber carbines. In Canada, if we play with PCC using handgun stages and we will be using 10 round mags, my believe the fun factor will be a lot greater than in the US and for the clubs a lot less cumbersome. I am looking forward to using my Beretta Storm in Matches. Using it with 40 cal mags, I could run it with 14 +1 rounds. In saying that I suspect out MD will limit the rounds to 10 so it is fair for all those competing in PCC. The rules allow the MD to do so.
Enjoy the season. For those of us without indoor ranges the season starts in some parts of Canada in two months.

ps My friends in Chiliwack will be out this month maybe.

Nothing to discuss really. I will continue ignoring it, untill MDs will start crying out loud and get to me themselves

Not sure what your point it. Seems to me you are just charging windmills and by ignoring whatever "it" is does noting for your members.

My members? No idea whom you are referring to. I just stated the current situation. I am not affiliated with IDPA in any way.

It's in the members only area.

Maybe this will help, Pete - Euxx is the Android developer for Practiscore, and I did notice Practiscore has options to score IDPA matches - I don't know how many IDPA match directors have embraced Practiscore, (according to practiscore's results web page; it seems quite a few have - IPSC MDs really have - it's awesome!) but if they have, it's probably a really good idea if Euxx can translate rule updates to the program.

Hey Bob,
Chilliwack is scheduled to start in Feb, weather permitting. We do have indoor practice starting next Weds. but the matches are outdoors and we are ICY right now!

And we have started using Practiscore in our last two matches. The Club bought a bunch of tablets and we’re using them for all Club matches. A bit of growing pains but we are sticking with it.

Practiscore is awesome! You will love it. I've entered several small matches in Practiscore and have used it on my iPad. The only real fiddling I had to do was when I made a match with varying parts, like one part Steel Challenge combined with IPSC style stages. Then I created two matches for the day on Practiscore. I don't know it well enough to know if something like that can be easily merged together under one match.

It would help if you realized you are not as famous as you apparently assume you are. The Rule Book and associated appendices are out in the public domain. We use Practiscore at out club. I assume your company produces the product for a profit and it would seem to me it would be in your interest to seek information out to make your product appealing to potential customers. There are options.
