Browning is going to produce an A5 16GA. This is to be a version of the New A5 weighting in at around 6lbs on it's own frame and will be called "Sweet Sixteen" . Comes with DS chokes in a 26 'bl wood version only ----- YYYYYEEeeehaaa! Gotta have one! On their web site now.

I had a chance to shoot the 12 bore and it was good for me -- the Maxus however felt like a 2 by 4. Guess I'll know when their available to fondle.

The 12 bore version just did not fit me at all. When shouldered I was looking at the mid rib area. The 16 bore version sounds cool but I will stick with my 16 bore Remington 1100. Now if they brought back the old long recoil Auto 5 16 bore I would be in in a minute.

Hey John, I did not notice if it had shims. When a gun doesn't fit me I don't spend much time looking at it. I assume shims could fix the fit problem for me but an inertia powered 16 that will probably cost about 2000.00 when it gets here doesn't appeal to me. There are so many other great 16 bores out there (used) that can easily be bought for under 2000.00 that I will probably pass on this offering. Having said that I won't hesitate to handle one of these A5 16's if I find one in a shop. Never say never.

I had the A5 Stalker and it had shims with it. Very excited about this new 16g offering!!
What's so exciting about a semi or a pump regardless of gauge and/or brand? .....................
They are all exciting if they are 28 or 16ga
What does everyone think the price would workout to be on the new models? Around $1500 probably? I was really thinking about starting to search for an older sweet sixteen for upland birds. Whats the going price for an old sweet 16 these days? I don't need interchangeable chokes for that purpose and 12Ga is more affordable and easier to find in steel for ducks and geese. Kinda surprised me to see this today 16 gauge isn't the most popular in any regard. Ammo isn't the easiest to find either just found some more buckshot the other day at a local dealer seems as though the only popular shells to find are #6 lead federal.

Would take a very long time to source all of what that guy got in one haul.......
Agree especially in vintage original factory . I would have close to that in 16ga vintage factory I think less the slugs but mainly all winchester pheasant which I bought 20 or more boxes of years ago when I heard they were stopping production of the 16ga compression formed hull and also bought 3000 or more winchester wads to reload them later on
But like you say I have been shooting the 16ga and gathering since 1965
There is one place here that the shop closed I am going to say in 1980 that has that and more in 16ga and 28ga vintage shells. I have tried many times to buy the lot but of course the grandson that has them now thinks they are worth like 10X what they are
As far as modern 16ga shells canadian tire here stocks federals all the time

i find kent 16 gauge are the most consistent and effective. got some gamebore fibre wad english 6 (american 7s) that work well.
