New in box Nylon 66 Apache Black Chrome to shoot or not to shoot?

One of the more over-rated firearms. But the did have excellent advertising ploys, in it's day.

Well, had a few over the years (including a black-chromed one)
The good
- Fun/fast plinking rifle, minute of pop-can accurate

The not so good
- If you did a complete take-down, they are kind of a pain to put back together... as in, a fed up club member showed up with a stock and a bag full of parts "give me a beer and this POS is yours"
- It is not uncommon for the grove on the receiver to not quite line up with the barrel.

$1,800 US for a Nylon
- How does it go: a fool and his money are soon parted
(But who am I to judge how someone spend his $$)

Hey guys,

I have a bit of a dilemma…I just acquired a new in box Remington Nylon 66 Apache Black Chrome. It’s complete with all literature and the original sales receipt from 1983.

I’ve been looking for one of these for a while but I’m not a collector and I’m thinking by the looks of it I may have a valuable little piece.

Just looking for some insight on value and would I greatly depreciate it if I use it?

Beg, borrow or…. Ok, beg or borrow another Nylon 66 to try out first. The Nylon 66 was the first gun with plastic on it that I ever shot and I hated it, mainly because of the trigger and the sights as I recall.

People seem to be increasingly nostalgic of late for original “authentic” stuff of that generation, perhaps because they coveted something back in the day and can now afford to indulge that old want. You just need to find that guy.

These things are turning into collectors items already, and to have a 40 year old NIB is extremely rare. The black and chrome version is already rare!

Don't shoot it and destroy the value. Get another one to shoot, and keep the rare gem integrity of the collector's item.

You could sell that rifle that is not very accurate, or well made, for a better quality rifle, that you will love to shoot with.Don't shoot it, but sell it to someone else that will never shoot it.It isn't good enough to load up and shoot at the range, as it will disappoint in every area except reliability.Those scatter guns will go bang when you pull that creeping trigger.the 66 was the first gun I ever shot , and as a result ,I bought an Anschutz, when I finally got my first job.
