I think someone walking into a range and seeing guys and gals kidding around amicably is far more important than a dress code/anti piercing/anti tattoo covenant.
If I walk into a room and see the greasiest dirtiest most tattooed biker type there and he welcomes me in I would rather be in that environment than walking into a range of guys in business suits staring intently down range intent on ignoring me and giving me the cold shoulder.
When I bring guests to a match or the range I find they seem to notice all the camaraderie between shooters and occasional good natured jeering. Watch your visitors and when you see them smile figure out what it is! Try to repeat this and you'll maybe get someone else hooked on the sport.
Most people are intimidated walking into the unknown and breaking the ice is far more important than a dress code.
Now just to dissagree with myself I don't particularly like camo at the range but see it more at the rifle range than during an IPSC match.
