New IPSC HG if ever

I like the new Glock, Echelon, Sig GTO, but there are so many new platforms since the "freeze" & many now come with ported barrels & slides it would be hard to just pick one.

The 320 in all its variants has been banned from competition from what I can tell.

IF the HG ban is ever lifted I'm thinking CZ or Glock.

Any thoughts.
Are you sure about that? I am not aware of IPSC Canada banning the P320. IDPA announced that policy this past summer. But I'm not sure that's being followed in Canada. Local IDPA matches in BC are still running P320s. Canadian shooting sports would lose too many shooters if they disallow P320s.

Interesting, not what I was led to believe.

I'll check again but can anyone confirm the Sig P320 and all its variants has been banned by IPSC or is it still allowed?

ie anyone shot a match in AB in 2025 with a 320 or variant?

There was an update on the USAF investigation, and it turns out the airman who claimed it had gone off by itself and killed his buddy had in fact been lying. So the ban ought to be lifted.

320 is still legit in IPSC competition however some ranges have still banned it or wont allow it to be holstered.
My understanding is that IDPA does not allow a 320 to be used.

I personally know someone who completed Black Badge and also shot his IPSC probationary match using a P320 in 2025 after IDPA announced the ban.

I have lately become extremely fascinated with the CZ-75BD Police. I know, I know, it's old technology and can't even be carried cocked and locked, so boring, so dull.

San Miguel de Allende Police carried them for years before switching to the Glock 17 (because some money was paid by Glock to the Mayor and the Police Chief I was told) -- but when the Police Chief was actually threatened by the Cartel, he called me up and asked me "what would you carry in my shoes?"

I told him I'd take the CZ hands down, and that I'd seen several Glock "light strikes" with the hard primers in Tecnos (Aguila) 9mm ammo. The CZ probably wouldn't get light strikes and even if it did, you have instant double-strike capability. Anyway, I told him, I'd load him up some 124 grain Gold Dots at around 1,150 fps and that should do the trick. I was getting 1,130 out of them out of my 4-inch Model 3904, I never chronoed them out of the Chief's CZ. Anyway, he carried that CZ until the threat went away in a CZ Kydex hip holster I had laying around and seemed quite happy with it. He carried it chamber-loaded with the hammer-dropped by the decocker which on the CZ-75BD leaves the hammer "half-cocked".

It's funny, but at the time, I absolutely had no real desire for one of those. But lately, old memories come up and I think it would be a cool gun to have. Guanajauto City Police and Salamanca Police also are using some CZ-75BD Police models, and I think Guanajuato State Police has some along with the Beretta 92FS.

So I no it's not plastic-fantastic, but if I get a new handgun in a semi-auto 9 (here or in Mexico) I'm really salivating over a CZ-75BD POLICE. (The version marked POLICE has features the regular CZ-75BD does not have. Checkered front and backstrap, and a lanyard loop, are two that come to mind, there might be one or two more.

My earliest pistol training was on a CZ-75, and years later still being fond of them had a chance to pick one up, but the grip shape didn't fit my hand as well as other pistols and revolvers I'd handled since then.

what division are you thinking about?
for Production and Production Optics, Shadow 2 or racey P320, there’s also steel framed Walther, don’t remember the exact model. P320 weak spot is the ejector - aftermarket mag base pads = overinsertion, ejector bends, then breaks, and it is part of the FCU sheetmetal.
else 2011 rules

First purchase for me if this stupidity ever goes away is a Canik Rival S.
I am still kicking my ass that I didn’t get a Rival before the ban, but the all steel Rival S was released after the ban so never had a shot at it. I foolishly didn’t grab another Canik Elite Combat either, always been a Glock 19 guy but the Elite Combat is by far my favourite pistol now that I’ve shot it for a few years
