new issue #31 omg

no signs of case jam apart from a bit shiney spot where the bolt would of been rotating the 60 degree, down near the base too, so not stressed.

Whats thoughts on the Spray, its muzzle up so none goes into the rifling, il just clean the bolt with air before putting it back in an a dollop of light oil ay

i’m not familiar with the abolt action, but.....i fixed something very similar for a buddy on his tikka t3. the firing pin was gummed up/rusty and after a wet weekend of hunting it seized inside the bolt sleeve.

took some careful tapping (pointing down range) and rust breaker to free it up.

After a weekend of hunting wet your are supposed to clean your firearms... I would be embarrassed to admit my gun was so rusty it would not operate...

haha no shame here brother, i admit my 3 day old to me rifle was gunky as hell in the firing spring department, from i assume lack of use in the past 10 years due to the owner having sakos in lh ? guns i think.
all good my man, shes a go-er now for another 10

here she was this morning, little did i know, probly not ready to fire lol

Being stainless is part of the problem. I find many customers neglect stainless guns where they would not do that to a blued version.

Having owned that for only 3 days, that was not your rust... that was the previous owner... but the internals will always need attention after being in the rain.

Glad ye got the bugger freed up WL. Oy, that's a bunch of corro goin' on in there. Ye need to pull down, clean and lube yer shooters fairly often depending on the use they get. I strip and prep my ones when I buy 'em. I then keep em tiddly by regular maintenance thereafter. Don't use WD40 as a protectant. The stuff is roo piss
and contains processed fish oil & water in the mix.

Jet Lube 12/34 is a great spray lube that I use for me guns, vehicles & electrical maintenance chores .

You blokes have ACF 50 which be ideal fer protecting firearms that get wet and neglected. I use a similar product over here. You can find it easy enough at motorcycle dealers and such.

Well... i fitted the QD rings back on with Scope, shot a round and it hit sweet bang on... so i went hunting...
on return to the vehicle, it somewhat did it again but this time i just fiddled and flicked the safety on an off quite hard, even tried to fire it again, quiter click,

il have to submerse the bolt in some spirits an let it really break up that schit in there!
all it can be... unless it was by coincidence that one particular case????
stoked on the ring situation though

Copy that mate , thats also a common problem down here- its stainless steel.... which to some, means it will last forever but fail to maintain it. understood...

spose ill pull her right apart !

Do other A bolters know if their Stocks are 'epoxied' in where the recoil lug slips in? is that standard?

Duuudes............ so i took the bolt out an uncocked it LOL, now i cant get it cocked to align it to go back in... LOL

A gun dealer/gun smith I know says that Stainless is aptly named only it should read Stain Less but in this case it's not a stainless issue as the firing pin & spring won't be.

As for the 3-day rust thing, it very well could be that quick, buddy of mine had a house fire, no heat damage at all to the firearms but the fire dept wouldn't let us enter the building until 3 days after the fire, water damage/rust was sever on those guns internally...much more than I thought possible in that short of time frame.

Lern tuh like that schtinky Fluid Film.
Took a shotgun apart yesterday and found spuds growing in there.
Shook up a fresh can oh FF, layer'd that chit in there and waited a bit.
Took a tewf brush and scrubbed it.
Brake cleaner and more FF...……..repeat.
Then G96 fur an awnkore.

Now both triggers go click...……..click where before click, bump the stock...……...click.

A wise man once proclaimed, never put away a dirty gun.

From another site:

Take the bolt in your left hand, shroud in your right hand, and rotate the shroud CW until it locks in the small indentation.
Make sure the rotatable part of your bolt is in the correct position and you should be able to reinstall the bolt in the action.
It's fairly stiff, you need a tight grip to do this with bare hands.

Been carrying a stainless A bolt for over 20 yrs here in Canada's North. Never once had any issues. Not the rifle' s fault as others have suggested. The joys of buying used firearms it seems.....never know how it has been treated prior to you getting it in your hands.

i have seen rusty bolts before. have cerakoted a few. i do the bolt inside and out as well as the firing pin and spring. very little maintenance required. i have checked a couple bolts and there clean. a wipe for dust and go.
