NEW ITEM: Dominion Arms Socom 18

Anyone have any idea if I can re thread a 14x1RH to fit this?
Thinking about modifying one of those Czech special forces brakes to fit.
Might have to just get an adapter made. Not sure if there is enough meat there to re thread.

my socom has shipped...just got the email...eta next thursday, while i'm still on holiday!

Lol!!!
Thanx ;)

Received my Socom 18 today, took it apart and it looks really good. Although the feed ramp is a bit off-center (as seen in previous pics), this does not mean it is over-indexed from what I read.

For now it is in pieces, sprayed down with CLP, following a break-cleaner degreasing. Not sure what kind of oil they used, but it is nasty stuff. Not happy with the way they pinned the mags (why didn't they simply rivet?). I need to figure out how to take them apart without breaking them.

I will re-assemble it tonight and hope to take it out this weekend.

Just got mine today and this is the 6th M-305 I have owned and is the nicest overall.
The only issue I can see is that the op rod guide could use peening to tighten it up .
No shims required and the barrel is indexed correctly .
I only took a fast look at it but I feel CanAm has knocked this one out of the park !!

Recieved mines, they are by far the nicest of all them 305 made, my grandsons will be very happy... JP.

Received mine today. Ordered evening oct 31. Disassembled and cleaned. The only problem I saw was front sight set all the way to the right and barrel shroud tighter than I have the means to loosen right now. I think I prefer it as it came anyway. I'll take it out tomorrow and see how it shoots. Thanks CanAm.

what is the sign of an over indexed barrel? My front sight appears to be centered but the feed ramps are not. otherwise it looks great!

I didn't know their oil bottle came full of oil, and spilled it all over the gun and carpet, faaaaaaaaaccccccckkkk,,,

The feed ramps don't give an accurate indication of a properly indexed barrel. Flat bars mounted on the receiver heel and front sight base and then veiwed from the front and rear is the best way .Or by looking down the barrel and seeing where the gas port is by taking out the piston and inserting a small drill bit or punch up through the hole.

Too bad the allen screw doesn't sit flush on the back of the front sight as the screw has to be removed to get the gas locking ring off :( .
I peened under the op rod guide and added some loctite and now it is tight as can be ....no shims were required for the gas cylinder either .
Put in a new op rod spring guide and spring and a set of Garand rear sights so I am ready to try it out .
I tried it in a USGI fiberglass I have on my other version of shorty and it dropped right in. Even passed the trigger after assembly test .
So these shortys have the same dimension of receivers as the other shortys...... All the shortys I have seen come with deep cuts in the trigger pad area of the stocks.
So swapping stocks with a 22 inch barrel version will take some inletting under the trigger pad area on the stock.
I really like this newest version and if anyone is debating I say get one as the prices are soon going up .

Ordered on the 6th.... Still hasn't shipped. :(

I think canam may have a lot of order right now, because my order made on oct 31, and completed and paid more than a week ago was shipped today, and it did not contain a firearm, so yours might take a while!

Guess it did get busy, after ordering my Socom's, i ordered one K of 44 mag ammo and it only being processed so far did order on the 6th... JP.

Got mine today and it's index is way off and the rear sight aperture is also off centered. I have two other Norc's a M305 shorty and a M14S and both are indexed right. Very disappointed in this one. Looks like I got one made on a Friday by a untrained 8 year old..... email sent to Canam....any suggestions...????
