New Ithaca M37s question

Is it me or is the pistol grip on the new M37 wierd looking?

I'd love to buy a new one in 20ga, but that funky grip puts me off grabbing the VISA.

Its not just you. I think its wierd looking too. That being said, I do still want one, its just not very high up the list.
 
I do not think the new Ithaca Model 37 shotguns have a different grip than the ones made back in the early 70s.Putting my new Ithaca Model 37 along side my brothers early 70s shotgun ,there is very little if any difference that I can tell.
 
The grip angle has been a bit of a disadvantage for me with all pistol gripped 37's, I think the gun would benefit from a more open, Prince of Wales type grip. I have an older English Ultralight with the straight grip and 25" barrel, it handles and fits me much better for upland game shooting.

That grip is just too full. Otherwise I would've acquired one in a 20 or 28 .... I like the slim fore end on the Ithaca.
 
I have [I beleive]the first new generation 20 gauge 26" barrel to come to Canada, I bought it from Clay at Prophet River. The grip does look a little funny but the gun is beatifully finished,fits perfectly and functions flawlessly, I have a half dozen or so 20 gauges and the little Ithaca is by far my favorite. At first I was concerned with the higher than average price for a pump gun, but after my first day of shooting [I shot 300 rounds that day] It is easy to say you do get what you pay for. Iam very happy I passed on to Clay the idea of importing Ithacas to this side of the border, a special thanks to Clay for taking the time and necessary steps to import these fine guns to Canada.
 
I don't know if this applies to their sporting shotguns but the last time I talked to them Ithaca was willing to do quite a bit of custom work on a tactical shotgun I was considering, which would be them imported through Clay.

I would think they'd be up for changing "grips" and barrel lengths if requested.

Ain't that the truth.These new Ithaca Model 37s have a great feel to them.I have heard rumors about a straight stock version being in the works.Hopefully it is not just a rumor.
