I just bought a RFI marked new bayonet for my lee Enfield No. 5 (Jungle Carbine) on E-Bay. It's a great looking, brand new bayonet but it doesn't fit my No.5. Anyone else buy one of these? Any problems?
Personally, I think the bayonets to be way over priced for what they are, the originals that is. Might as well buy a new rifle for the amount!
I have had a few of the RFI bayonets over the years and they all worked well.
Most of the No5s we have now, are from India, so why are the bayonets considered to be S**t. India also had Sterlings which also use the No5 bayonet.
India has been manufacturing quality bayonets for years, so has the quality control deteriorated. Unless the No5s are manufactured by private industry.
I sold off most of my No5 bayonets over the years including the first model a MkI with one screw hole in the grips. I kept two of the MkIIs one is nickel plated and the other is stock'
But are these new ones really from Ishapore, or are they a Chinese copy?RFI is Ishapore, India. They just don't fit.
