The first gun I ever shot was an old Winchester .22LR with my uncle when I was about eight. I'd really never thought much about guns until the day he told me to come with him down to the barn and he taught me to shoot. Since then I've been shooting whenever the opportunity arose. Various rifles with my uncle as wells as a beat up 20 Gauge shotgun. I once shot a .50 Calibre muzzleloader with my friend and his dad. Anyways, I did a little research on licensing, floated around here for a while and convinced my father to sign us up for the CFSC :D. Today was the first class, and our exam is on Thursday, which just so happens to be my fifteenth birthday. I'm thinking our first gun will be a Savage Mark II, but any and all advice is appreciated. I'm here to learn!

One question I can't really find an answer to, is if I'll be allowed to buy ammunition with my minor's permit here in Ontario? From what I've read the federal law says yes, but provincial laws can put further age restrictions on it...

The Ontario Ammunition Act of 1993/94 does place limits. I belief its 18 years.

Well we went in today for the exam. I scored a 100 on the practical and a 96 on the written, my dad got a 90 on the practical and 100 on the written. My dad got his PAL application there but apparently they arent allowed to give out Minor's Permits anymore so we've been trying to get ahold of the CFO with no luck. OH well, in a few months time we'll have things set :)
