Thinking of getting me a new Kimber 84L in 270 for an early Christmas present for me from me. Beautiful guns -- published 6lb 2 oz, 24" barrel. Anybody Got one -- do you like?

don't have a kimber, but was considering buying one for quite a while. Loved the look of the rifle, but got swayed by the many not so nice things people on the "internet" were saying about Kimber rifles. Ended up saving a few more pennies and buying a cooper 52. From a weight perspective, the 2 rifles a very different, but styling wise, they are quite similar, nice wood, blued stocks. Love my cooper, happy I ended up going with it.

I've got couple Kimbers, a 22/250 Varmint and a .338 Win Mag. I can't find anything to fault, great trigger, nice wood and as accurate as I could expect a light weight hunting rifle to be.

I view them as a Model 70 done right.

I would buy a Winchester Model 70 Extreme Weather SS!
I don't own a Winchester, but if I was in the market that would be my first.
Have 2 Varmint Kimbers that are deadly accurate though, people have been saying that the new Kimbers are't like the older ones.

kimber

Cooper would be a better choice.

But they run 5 to $600 more and are more weight reading the sheets. A light weight rifle is necessary for me. I have and had synthetic rifles and just don't like them -- guess I'm getting old and a traditionalist. Actually, I'm torn between 7-08/308 & 270. The 308 is perhaps the most versatile (deer & moose) with more choices of bullet weights available over the counter.

Had a .308 Classic Stainless that I sold to fund hunting and other money burning lunacy. I really enjoyed my brief time shooting it, would gladly take another if it shows up at a good price or is offered on trade. Best stock fitment I've seen on a rifle under $3000, and crazy light, my example was very accurate as well. Good step up from the usuals but still stays in the affordable rifles range.

If you want to do yourself a favour seriously look at a Cooper in 270 win. I have 1 in a Jackson Game and I never leave the house without it during deer season. Deadly!!! to say the least, I have a leupold 4.5 - 14 with B&C reticle. I have not lost a deer in 3 years since starting to use it. Awesome rifles!!!

If the weight is an issue, the cooper 54's are about 1 1/2 lb lighter than the 52. Right in the ball park with the Kimber and you can get the 7-08 or 308 and you will love it!

I bought a Kimber 8400 Classic Select with the French walnut in 30-06 two years ago. It had feeding problems from the left side right out of the box. Called Kimber in Yonkers. Very apologetic, and sent me a new mag spring and follower in the mail. It has worked flawlessly ever since.

Very accurate, light weight and nice rifle. I bought a new Win. M-70 featherweight in .243 last year. It is every bit as accurate as the Kimber, weight is about the same. The wood isn't near as nice. But it is only about half the price of the Kimber.

If dollars are an issue the new Win. M-70's are hard to beat. The Kimbers are real nice though and I hear the Coopers are even nicer. But there going to cost you and probably not shoot from a pracitcal stand point any better than the M-70.
The deer I shot last week with the model 70 thought I was using the Kimber, both said they couldn't tell the difference.!!!

I have one cooper all accounts top notch, next will be a Kimber Classic select 25-06 or 270 not sure on cal. but definitely a kimber I like the style feel and looks of the Kimber over the cooper.
