New Kimber: Is this a problem?

The adirondack in my safe has the same cutout. Your feed rails and your feed ramp needs a polish to get it to feed smooth by look in your picture. I've got loads developed that shoot 150 gr bullets into 3" groups @ 422 yards. Currently working on a aluminium trigger guard to replace the stainless one and save another 2 ounces.

Why don't they just put a shorter screw in the front? If it's going into a relief cut in the barrel it's not threaded into anything anyway is it?
Or does the shape of the receiver not leave enough meat for the screw to thread into?

interestingly, looks like the ol guy I got mine off done the same thing, its been douched up with a 'dremel' is it? or some tool that has just taken off the sharp edge

The receiver is *thin* and the first thread of any internal thread is itself thin, and usually disregarded in a strength calculation. The big kicker is the taper on the front of a screw. The thread won't start without the taper, but it eats a thread. To get enough turns of engagement in the thin receiver, the tapered tip has to poke all the way through. Hence the clearance in the tenon.

I'd be surprised if any Kimber owner shoots Factory for anything more than Brass gains. :D :D

we're just not into that an a bit more into This tailoring the loads to our Beautyyysss!!!
