So I got home today and there was a shipping notification on the door. I went on down to the post office, payed the Thieves in Ottawa and then shuttled my package home :D

I've gotta say I'm pretty happy with the quality of the Copstock and I'm looking forward to blasting some stuff. The only thing I noticed right away is that the fixtures for the folding stock interfear with your thumb at times... I think it may be a 'little' uncomfortable but time will tell. The Pachmyr grip is WAY better than the stock defender pistol grip!

I also got an IBD tactical sling with the unit.... anyone know how in the hell the thing works? *eta Figured it out.... Holy man is that thing ever slick! :D Well worth the $35 IMHO.

Anyway, it cost me about $170 to my door for the Sling and the Stock. Apparently customs isn't an Issue!

Here's a question... Any of you guys disable the slide locks on your shotguns? The slidelock on the Defender is small, on the left side of the gun and is at the back of the trigger guard. I can see it being incredibly hard to get at quickly. Should I just leave the chamber empty with the hammer down or should I mod the slide release? I don't think it will pose any safety issues as the hammer won't drop if the bolt carrier is even a little bit to the rear. On the other hand I guess I would need to make absolutely sure the bolt was closed all the way if I was puttin the bead on a bear. It would suck to have the hammer not fall when you want it too. Double edged sword ;)

Disabling the slide/action lock would be a bad idea. Ensuring the bolt is fully forward and closed is important for your health. My question, why would you leave the chamber empty? If this is a bear gun, chamber a round, engage the safety and carry with confidence. Otherwise, leave the chamber empty, hammer down and pump to load.

Yeah, I figured that would be the response. I don't like carrying with a round in the chamber. I don't trust safeties and the last thing I want to do is accidentally shoot someone. I suppose carrying hammer down is the best solution.

That stock is f**king hot.

I am seriously thinking about putting a Spec-ops folder on my 870MM.
Yep, I like it :D

I think the Copstock looks better than the Specops... that and I think their gonna be produced by Blackhawk :puke: I'm pretty happy that I got this thing before the Takeover. The copstock is cheaper than the Specops too!

I put one of those on my Maverick 88 about 2 years ago - makes for a real nice, compact "bear defence" package that I can toss into the ATV, carry while fishing, etc.
The stock does dramatically reduce recoil but it still hurts like a bugger when shooting off 3" slugs. If a bear ever did attack me, I'd have to decide (quickly) whether to break my wrist shooting the bear or just let the bear eat me and get it over with. :p
Did you get the swivel mount for the stock - its a screw that replaces the bolt on either side of the stock and it allows you to attach a sling. At one time Cop Stock would mail you one if you called them.

Hmmm, the slug thing is Disconcerting. I'll have to see if I can do something about that.

Yeah, it has a sling mount on the stock, it doesn't spin though.... dunno if that's what you meant.

OK, just put two boxes of 2-3/4" #7, 5 rounds of 2-3/4" 00buck, and 5 3" mag slugs through my little beauty! :D:D

She still kicks like a shotgun but it's MUCH easier on the wrist! I fired those slugs for the first time with a pistol grip and WOW! It didn't hurt at all but holy man does it still buck :D

After watching that Easton Bowhunting TV bear charge and shooting that shotgun with the 3" mag slugs... I now know EXACTLY why so many guys are advocating PRACTISING with your gun to be ready for an incident!

Only thing I would change now is the trigger guard on the shotgun. It's a little too small now that I have the knoxx stock on there. (I'm sure those of you with a knoxx on a defender know what I'm talkin' about.)
