New Leupold Canada Warranty

That is only partly true, Leupold wants all scopes sent to Korth. I had my binoculars fixed 2 years ago. Leupold had me send them to them, had em back in under 2 weeks.

Binoculars don't fall under import/export restrictions.

Are you sure? You may want to contact Leupold on that one.

Therefore this statement is effective November 1st /2010 and only for Leupold optics whose serial number when tracked proves to be from a source other than from Leupold US to Korth Group Ltd. in Canada and will have its warranty voided.

Leupold may want to have a look at their website.

Repair or replace your Vortex product for any reason at NO CHARGE TO YOU. It doesn't matter how it happened, whose fault it was, or where you purchased it.

Read it again. If the scope was not imported by Korth, the warranty is void and they will not fix it under warranty.

If you or any individual purchase a USED Optic from outside of Canada you MUST according to US State Department and Canadian Import Law(s) apply for Export Approval documentation through the US Commerce/State Department. Once this is approved this documentation must accompany the Optic when Crossing the Border (whether by mail or vehicle).

This applies to new or used and it doesn't apply to all optics. This person is rather clueless in regard to laws.
Canada Customs doesn't care,BTW, it's a US law.

Yes it is a US law and trying retroactively to get paper work straight on a scope you illegally imported into Canada will not only screw the seller with Uncle Sam but will put YOU on a watch list. No scope is worth that!

Please read the whole topic. I was referring to the denial of warranty on a scope legally imported by someone other than Korth.

Korth's pricing on Leupold scopes is notably overpriced (and we and they all know it) when compared to US prices. Korth is trying to secure its overpriced market by diswaying Canadian consumers from buying the same, more affordable Leupie products from the US. While their Leupie warranty may be quick, you may feel different about it when you send your scope back 3 times to get it fixed properly(???). I personally have had it with Korth and therefore Leupold. Seriously, Bushnell and Vortex are looking better and better all the time.

Here's the final email that I got from Korth. Sounds like the process should be reasonably painless.

Sorry, the way it reads, if it's not imported through Korth, there is NO warranty. Doesn't matter if it was legally imported or not. The paragraph you are referring to is about USED scopes, not NEW ones bought from a dealer that is not authorized, (ie. a few gunnutz dealers.) even if that dealer imported it legally.

Short form:

1) A USED scope imported legally AND originally purchased prior to Nov.1 2010 will have warranty.

2) ANY scope purchased or that is manufactured after Nov.1 2010, that was not imported through Korth, will have NO warranty, imported legally or not.

Obvously Leupold U.S.A better set up another warranty center in Canada or an easy way to send them back..this monopoly has just went from bad to really bad..lol
