New leupold VX-3 vs Zeiss conquest

The specs are up on Zeiss' website. These scopes are very heavy - the 2-10x42 is 17.5oz, which is only 1oz lighter than the Victory 2.5-10x50, which not only has a much larger objective lens, but also has a 30mm tube. The 5-25x50 model is more than 1/2lb heavier than the Swarovski Z5 5-25x52.

So if I went to the States and bought a Forster Co-Ax Press and some dies I am 100% Ok? SandRod menitoned components and I am reading that to be bullets, brass, primers, powder not acutal equipment.

Makes you wonder why they retail for some much more up here...the press I mean.

When you guys mention getting caught exporting a scope...do mean by US border officials or Canadian? Or both?

I apologize for going off topic, however it is still important.

The press and dies are tools and are OK to export from the US without a permit.

And you are correct, all components, brass, bullets, primers, power, require a US Export License.

The part about getting caught, is by US export checks, if you are flying, it would be at the airport, possibly by security (Homeland Security). If driving, there are random export checks where they pull over selected vehicles and question and/or search them. The border exit checks are usually staffed by CBP and Homeland Security, and occasionally with ATF. Dogs are sometimes used.

Canada doesn't really care what you bring in, as long as it's declared and you pay taxes, if applicable.

Why so much more up here? Volume is small and shipping costs are much higher than in the US.

Back to your regularly scheduled topic.....;)
