Hello all.

I scoured through these boards looking for a comprehensive list of parts that I would need to turn the SA15.7 into a semi-auto C8 carbine.

I apologize if there already is a thread on this but I couldn't find a definitive list.

For starters I just pre-ordered the latest release from Colt Canada and am anxiously anticipating its delivery at the end of April.

I have done some research and so far I have determined the following items I would require. Please feel free to add to my list if I have missed anything:

Ambi C8 charging handle
Ambi norgon magazine release
*i believe the c15.7 already comes with an ambi fire selector switch?
The elusive tri-ad Rail mount
I'm not sure what Rail goes below the handguard for the foregrip? (Possibly Cadex?)
Diemaco Green furniture which I have ordered

Is this a good list or am I still missing something?

Thanks everyone inadvance

-Ambi-CH
-Ambi-mag release
-Rear sling plate needs to be changed for a flat left-slide adapter
-Diemaco rear sight or whatever optic
-Diemaco or CC Triad
-Cadex rail and folding grip if you desire
-Green furniture, though pistol grip and stock + spraypainted handguards is fine

Beyond that there was lots of personal touches like slings and whatnot.

Ok thanks for that.

Another point of confusion for me is the full auto BCG people seem to talk about. I assume that what I willreceive is a Colt Canada marked BCG but the one I should go for is a surplus Diemaco marked FA BCG? Am I out to lunch on this one?

FA BCG just means it doesn't have any extra material cut away underneath. You'll get a FA BCG with CC (Colt Canada) stamps on the side. If you're really keen you can get a surplus C8 BCG with the Diemaco D on it.

Late to the party and don't know if they'll ship internationally, but BCM cloned the Tri-Rail when Larry Vickers commissioned them to build a C8SFW for his personal collection, and Arms Unlimited sells a just-as-good Norgon clone for 1/3 the price. True North Arms lists the hook CH-latch for $35CDN, and to my eye the length on the rail looks like the 4.2" Cadex CMR-418-01. Don't forget the Cadex 622-000 OD-green foregrip!

Working up a similar build myself, but around the BCM SFW URG since I'm an American and we can't get Diemaco/CC toys down here. (Even if we could, for me the fun is in the building, taking a pile of parts and turning it into something.)

Yeah, you definitely want to make sure you get that 4.2" Cadex rail as it matches the angle of the handguard perfectly. As an FYI though, that foregrip is kind of terrible. I keep mine mounted backwards otherwise the mounting screw digs into the palm of my hand. Your mileage may vary though. It depends on how you grip it.

I hear ya--haven't mounted the Cadex I picked up on anything yet (my C8 research and parts acquisition is for a project that may or may not go forward depending how things go with the girlfriend), but my personal preference for foregrips is either that of the original Thompsons or the FAB PTK some retired FBI friends introduced me to--on longer barrels I'll tuck a mag-carrier foregrip behind the PTK, not for "grip" but just to carry another mag or two. Being left-handed has a way of changing things too... LOL

You could go the old school route and get a C9 grip ;)

I attended our local Remembrance Day service yesterday and saw a bunch of C8's with the proper Carbine length. Triad Rail. I wanted to distract them and swap them lol!

Believe me none of us would be upset if we lost that overweight cast turd off our gun. Well maybe at the charge parade. But you won't find many people fond of that thing.

To get a true clone you also require the 300 dollar otis pistol grip cleaning kit

I have yet to see one of these mythical kits on anything at work.

Amazing the shift in perspective the moment you "have to" use it for work.

They are in the system. Every rifle also has the empty pistol grip container.
