Just completed my first black rifle build. Impressions of my choices?

You've outdone yourself if that's your first build! I'm not really a fan of the carry handle on the flat top, but I could live with it! Good job.

I'm kind of partial to the old school thats why I put the handle on top. I can switch out if need be though.

it is just perfect, the quick range adjustment on that iron sight is way more useful than a simple folding BUIS.

Ditch the fixed irons

Its a 12" barrel your not going to be shooting out to a 600m range using the wheel on the carry handle.

Yup. No point in having a flattop, especially an MRP with irons. Put a nice scope on there that befits the rifle.

Whoever used the carry handle anyway?

Throw a T1 Micro in a Larue high mount on there and add some Magpul BUIS's.
Done and done.

+1 on the Aimpoint/Larue - that's a very nice lightweight carbine

As others have echoed, get folding BUIS, get a red dot, or my favourite, a 1-4x scope.

That is what a sling is for.

Both hands free means you can carry the beltfed weapon!

Sure, I like the sling too, but running through bush with a weapon slung across your body does not work well. The carry handle is nice for that reason. FN had it, C7 had it, very handy for fast long distance humping. But, to each his own.

For my own flavour I would put an EOTech G23.FTS 3x magnifier with flip to side mount and a red dot.
