i'm going to be reloading rifle cartridges only, i've narrowed it down to a couple "intro" type kits. i would love some advice as whether a hand priming tool or to prime in the press would be better? i have done a ton of reading and it seems the "on the press" type is better suited for those reloading pistol ammo as it apparently requires less case trimming etc .........the hand priming recommended for rifle to allow for case trimming more conveniently.
the 2 kits are the same other than the re-priming stage, one comes with a hand priming tool and the other comes with a primer system attached to the press. both are from Lee, the presses are identical.
i do realize that Lee is not the one hardcore loaders use for the most part, i'm NOT asking to get flamed for contemplating Lee, if i enjoy it as much as i think i will, then i will eventually work my way up to better equipment.

for now, just some "real world" friendly CGN advice on this question would be greatly appreciated.
thanks

I loaded thousand of rounds on a LEE press, use it until it wears out, then upgrade. I prime using an LEE auto-prime II mounted on the press.

A lot of people (me included) prefer a hand priming tool because you can get a better 'feel' for how well the primer is seated. I once broke my Lee Auto Prime and while I was waiting for a new one to appear I used the press mounted priming system on my RCBS Rock Chucker. There was so much leverage generated by the press that I couldn't tell if the primer was in, out or not there. That convinced me that for rifle cases, at least, the hand primer was the way to go. Your mileage may vary.

Hand prime.
Like ted-dent said, when I had to use the press, I did. Now I have 2 RCBS hand prime tools so I never have to again.

@ facemans, what tool are you using and what case can't you prime?

DOne the hand prime, the "bang ont it with a mallet" type and I currently use a single stage press. I prefer the on press primer. For 130$ a Lee Anniversary Kit fits the bill with almost everything you need. My .02$
