New M&P purchase, pics!

heres a pic of my m&p. grate little gun. i ended up tradeing it last year for saa .45 for my dad for christmas. i'm not a big fan of the little black guns but the m&p is the one i chose and it was grate no problems at all but you can see my DNA in the slide serrations!

Any details about the "filing down the followers" would be appreciated, impossible to rack the gun with 10rds in the mags here... way too much pressure, 10rds fits with an effort but that's about it. 9 works good but I've got some filing to do, would love to know what I should do exactly before I start.

Thanks

No need to file anything, leave them loaded for a few weeks and despite what people will say, based on theory, they will become easier to load and they will allow you to seat them in 'top-up' mode. I know this to be true because I have done it several times (like 11 times) in 2 calibres.

It's for the New batch of mags we got at work so if they could work 100% tomorrow it would be much better if s**t happens. I doubt there is any harm in doing it too.
By looking at them I'm assuming the bottom of the followers is what I need to file?

:D Yeah, I wouldn't want to do an inside thigh rack with them!

enefgee (post#22) almost definitely has more experience with this than me, so modify your $? follower at your own risk :yingyang:.

I played with the Uplula loader and one mag when I got the pistol. I sat down and pushed what I felt was too hard on the tenth round in the magazine 30 times (300 rounds, so then 1200boolits/$? through the four mags I have.) I checked this against one of my fresh mags, and felt a small difference. I then stripped them both, and saw that the little legs on the one I'd been flexing had mushed a little, they looked like little pointy feet to me. I filed 'em flatter.
I checked every ten passes with the flat bastard:D. I filed...an eighth, maybe three sixteenths off total.

(Bonus point for doing this on the dining room tablecloth with dirty mag)
(Hey! Photobucket lets you scribble on stuff! Computers is neato)

Now the tenth round is a just a bit harder to insert than the ninth. I'm not seeing how this will ever permit the deadly explosive eleventh round in the mag, but if it does, I'll figure some sort of stop out then.

Sorry to high-jack this thread. We are considering moving to Chilliwack from the Island, could any of you give me some info on the area and the gun clubs located in that area. The good and the bad of living there...:)
Thanks.

Thanks.

Now that's a high-jack;)! I'm flattered you think that everyone in the 'wack is reading my M&P thread, but you might get more answers in a different sub-forum. I'll still play, though.

I like Chilliwack. It's flat, which is easy on vehicles. Every outdoor activity is at most an hour from my doorstep. The city is only an hour and a half away, and the town is built around the TransCanada, so easy freeway access for all.
This includes businesses, so the light industry around here seems to be growing well, although the downtown core (that "we're" shovelling money at) is unfortunately turning into a write off. This was not helped by allowing the natives to lease land to Wal-mart and Home Depot right outside the area "we're" trying to gentrify. Good for the natives, though.

I've always liked the Chilliwack Fish and Game Club, but I have nothing to compare it to, so I'm biased.

I've got to go to work, I'll think about it some more, bye!

....It was meant to be a poke/joke at some of the EE ads I've seen. I'll go put an emoticon beside it...or something:D.

I did get the 9mm Range Kit, it was 700 and change+ the dreaded HST at my local gun store.

After filing, the mags all fit 10 an' a quarter rounds , and they can all just slam home on a closed slide.

I've now put the Apex Competitition kit in and WHOAH. Randy Lee is not kidding when he says 2 and a half pound pull. I put the original sear spring back in, that made it a nice 3 and a half. Then my buddy left with his trigger gauge, before I thought to compare it to the DCAEK spring in the Kit. I'll see him next weekend, and maybe do a comparison. This kit is worth every penny, although if I wasn't thinking IDPA in the spring, I'd like to try the FSS as well.

Go ahead and stick the FSS in and shoot ESP.:D I am thinking about doing that with my FS and keep my PRO for SSP.

Great purchase and the Apex kit is something else in the gun.

Take Care

Bob

I just bought my first pistol last week. Had my heart set on the Steyr M9A1 and I got it, YaY! But I'll admit, at the store the M&P 9 Range Kit was $50 more than my Steyr ($699), I almost bought... perhaps I should have, at that price it was a steal. But I stuck with the Steyr. Heck, there is always room for more guns! After researching some more, now I think I should have got the M&P, great gun, great value, lots of aftermarket stuff. Enjoy!

Again, my apologies, and thanks for the reply, I see that some of you live in the area and that was the reason for my post.

No problem at all, and I did think about your question today, but it led me to one of my own...how old you are would impact any answer I gave. Do you want to know about the new planned skatepark? Lawnbowling? Beer league hockey?
