New M&P9 Mags hard to load

I'm not so worried about the 10th round as the need for the speed loader. I'd try leaving the mags loaded for a couple offered but isn't that against the storage regs? Don't they consider the mags part of the gun which has to be stored "seperately" from the ammo? I only have a half dozen snap caps.

You can store mags loaded with ammo with your handgun if: they're in a locked cabinet or safe and not physically in the handgun. Otherwise loaded mag stored separate from the gun are fine as well, I have a second locking cabinet all my ammo and misc. cleaning equipment gets stored in. My m&p9 mags have been loaded since Thursday, hopefully that softenes up the springs a tad...

I got a chance to check my RPAL manual after posting and, of course, it doesn't seem to cover that. I'll have to consider what I can lock them in separate from the gun storage. I wonder if I still have my filing cabinet's keys?

Hi trimmed followers and left them loaded for a few weeks and that worked for me. I found no need to trim the spring, and wouldn't go there myself.

Overzealous trimming can result in 11 round mags, so do be careful.

10/17s are the most elegant solution, but they are hard to come by.

This topic come us fairly regularly. First of all, DON'T cut the springs.

Disassemble the mag and remove the follower. Place a piece of sand-paper on a table. Take the follower and move it in circles on the sand paper until you have removed enough material so that you can no longer see the small curves on the bottom of the follower at the front and back. Re-assemble magazine. DONE!

Yes. This simple. Don't cut the springs.
