I've done a closer inspection om my M14, and here's what I've noticed:
1. The receiver is reasonably hard. The file does not dig in very easily.
2. The gun looks to be in very good shape and there is no wobble in the gas system or the op rod.
3. The bolt in the closed cocked position can move less 1/64th of an inch
4. Left locking lug looks like it fits perfectly
5. Front sights and barrel look to be in index with the rest of the gun.
I think mine might be one of the newer ones. I'll have to shoot it when I get the chance.
