Just picked up my first M14 on EE (the one with the AKM stock). What would be the best optic for it under the $500-600 range? I comes with the m14.ca mount if that helps. I have a dednuts freedom reaper mount that would work on it (made by DNZ) unless you guys think it won't work. I am more of pistol guy so Im totally new to this. Any other general suggestions about this this would be awesome. Here is what I bought (without the scope and mount, and bipod):

That thing looks pretty boss.

Your scope depends on your preference. I like one with high magnification. For $500, I would get a Bushnell 6-24. I forgot the exact model, but it's around 400-500, and the optical quality is excellent considering the price point.

I think in general I would get bushnell elite series scope.

Looks great. What is the platform under the EBR stock (Springfield, LRB, Norc)?

Hope you will post how it shoots. Get good quality ammo or reloads for your first shoot - you want a great first experience with such a nice rifle.

Hard to say about your optic unless you tell us how you are going to use it. For target out to 300 yards, seems like there is a huge variety of good quality 3x9-ish scopes in your price range (Zeiss, Leopold, Vortex, etc.). Out past that you may want higher magnification plus other features and then it gets tougher to stay in the budget.

Welcome to the addiction!

I think I won't be shooting past the 150-200m mark as there is nothing close by higher than that distance. I was almost thinking like a 1-4x red dot or something. I do have a sightron big sky 6x24x50 but its probably too bulky for it. Was also maybe even thinking about an eotech. The rifle is a polytech 2007

Shoot some federal 150 gr Power Shok (blue box) through her and see how she groups.
As for optics... I went the eotech route, then a leupold tactical prismatic....
I like the prismatic, excellent etched crosshairs to shooting farther out with the dot turned off.
Overall, I was not satisfied with accuracy (my shooting) at 200 with either. 100 and under runnin and gunnin on my "home made" CQB course, different story, for me that's where I run my red dots.
