New M14S front sight tilted

Tiriaq is right....heating should be done with caution. With a small propane torch getting it hot enough to alter the temper of the steel should be difficult, especially with the total mass of the barrel clamped tightly in the barrel vice and the receiver clamped tightly in the receiver wrench. All your looking for is hot enough to burn out the crap inbetween the threads (~300 deg c) and hot enough to get the receiver to expand a little, allowing you to snug her up that extra half a degree or so.

I will be interested to find out whether the front sight on my M305 is also canted...it's on it's way to me now from Yorkton. :)

If it is - I think I'll just get used to shooting it like that.
