Its either sintered or cast.
Never seen this type of mold markings on cast.
What makes you doubt?
I too would prefer to doubt but it very much looks like it is sintered. It cannot be, it should not be but I think that it is sintered.
Now - now is the time when we really need the opinions of our M14 type rifle experts !

My gun had about 80 rounds through it. All Federal factory 168's and a box of Aguila 7.62x51. Had been kept super clean and appropriately greased.
The retailer I purchased it from offered up a used GI bolt to try and help out, John at M14Medic lapped and made sure the new bolt had decent lug contact. Rifle works great again. All the investigation and folks I spoke with all seemed to point to bad Chinese metal.

we need SN even if last digits are xx

a mod needs to supervise it so only important information is added. ---- comments like "that will buff right out" need to be deleted so the page does not get too long
I am not a expert but have worked in the steel industry and in machine shops
if I was making a bolt for the m14 .m305 M1 garand it would be forged first then machined, but the number of jigs ?? 4 - 6 different machining operations
it would require heat treating and anealing and if those 2 last operations are not done right you have a bad part

Looks like MIM marks to me...maybe cast?
Either way, something I would not trust the Chinese to do properly, only a few companies in North America can pull that off.
If ALL new M14's are like this, they are junk and NS should be doing a recall.

LOL dude, I'm 48 years old.... pushing 49...... I'm retired and I get to walk my property in the country with my dogs every day. Been married 10 years and happily at that. Got all my toys, a great big heated shop.... a lake full of fish within walking distance and I can hunt right out my back door with a crossbow..... no baggage here..... just quality living , how I want , when I want.
But.... with that said, I'm realizing that coming here and speaking my mind is simply a waste of my time and it gets me cranky seeing the same old drivel and threads on fuggered up rifles. The community stopped moving forward some time ago and it just in rinse repeat mode. To be truthful, some of the worst people in life , those two faced mutherfuggers we all come across from time to time , I've met more of them here in this community than I care to admit. So , it's time to part ways.
I'll spare all you "sensative alpha males" from my attitude and long winded posts haha , I'm out. My contributions to the m14 community end here

Kinda seems like a bull#### response sfrc. Who cares if the purchase was made 3 months ago. I’ve boughten countless fire arms when the are on sale for example with no intention on using them for months. Mental note for me is to never shop at your store. Thanks for the heads up
SFRC is NOT the CDN warranty provider. I'm presuming customer would have been told the proper procedure for a warrantly claim but neglected to mention this....and that would be to contact NS apparently.

I believe my Chinese bolt had the same circle marks on the bottom.
My serial is P1419xx, bought from Wolverine around last June.
Im trying to look it up online to get an idea of when it was made.

Ok I couldn't find anything online but I found an inspection/packing list that came with the rifle dated Dec 2014

Found a pic of the bolt that failed, looks identical to Apple tree's bolt.
I have an M305 I bought new last Sept, serial number P1410xx. I also looked at another freshly unwrapped one today with SN P1407xx. Both had inspection slips dated in 2014. Neither bolt had any sign of the circular marks seen on Merovingian's and Apple Tree's bolts. Also, neither had the almost black appearance of those two bolts.
A cost cutting step in late 2014?

First thing that stood out when I opened my shipping box, A super Tremclad black looking bolt. At first glance it looked almost plastic.
Perhaps a new blend of metal & polymer the Chinese are trying to bring to the world
