I just picked up an M700ssR5 from a dealer here on the board, and was finally able to roll up some ammo and give it a try.
All the rounds are 168g Sierra Match Kings, new, Remmington brass, CCI 200 primers, and varget powder. I am very impressed with this rifle.
All shots were at 100m.
The first group of 3, with 42gr of Varget;

The second group of 3, with 42.5gr of Varget;

The third group of 3, with 43gr of Varget;

The Fourth group of 3, with 43.5gr of Varget;

And a few shots of the rifle;

have yet to hear of a 5R not shooting like a laser.

I love mine.

I'm replacing the trigger though.. Have the current one at 2.5lb (low as my smith can get it without getting crappy)

Putting in a Timney and will set it at around. 1.5lb

That is a very nice rifle and it looks like a real shooter. You will definitely have a lot of fun with it.

The trigger is not bad in mine, I'll try it for a while, before I consider replacing it.

Is that a little 6-24 Tasco scope on there?... How is it holding up with the .308. For a cheapy (if it is the one I'm thinking of) they seemed to be built like a tank.

I would suspect that with your 168Gr Matchking & Varget combination you may want to increase the powder charge by a grain or 2.

Hodgdon lists a starting load of 42Gr and a max load of 46Gr.

Having said all that, Congratulations on a very nice shooting rifle!!

I beleive the 43.5 will be the magic number, we'll try it at 200yds this weekend.
:D

It is a cheapie tasco.....I've used them before on bigger cal guns with no problems, and I didn't feel like spending big $$$$ for a scope last week. The recoil on the R5 is not bad.
