NEW Mag introduced at SHOT Show.............Translucent AR Mags ...(PMAG Competition)

Just saying that here, with the cold weather, I doubt that the way that the lips are holding on the polymer that it will be strong enough. If you slam them to hard for a reload, may break

Time will tell. the Sig 550 series clear polymer mags that are here and used in Switzerland seem to be fine, hopefully these guys (who have a background in Advanced Polymers) can bring another choice to the market. Competition is could for consumers. :) Magpul is struggling with there clear polymers and are trying to fix that, lets see what these guys can do.

Feedback from the company.............

Also, let me say the L5 (Lancer 5.56mm) magazine was not developed to one up magpul. Magpul products are great, I should know, I've tested them all. It was developed at the request of a specific customer, and developed to addess specific needs of the military; fully translucent magazine that can fit the AR platform and withstand drop, high and low temp performace specifications.

The material is not Polycarb, but a new, custom blended plastic. The weight is the same as the aluminum magazine. As far as strength; truck run over it, no problem. But is that realistic? It does pass the 5 foot "in the rifle" drop test, that is a fully loaded magazine, loaded into an AR rifle with the bolt closed, dropped from 5'. As well as 5 foot drop (fully loaded) on to the feed lips.

But at the end of the day the magazine has to perform for real operators, and only time will tell. We are confident it's a good product.

ALSO.................

major advantages over USGI mag:
1 - Steel feed lips that don't bend
2 - Passes 5' "in rifle" drop test
3 - Passes -40f firing test

I agree, it looks nice if you have a full 30 round mag, but here its pointless, your first five rounds are hidden in the mag housing. Wouldn't look too "cool" with a see thru mag that looks empty...

Keep in mind the 550 series magazines utilize a "rock and lock" mag insertion as opposed to the straight/direct feed method of the AR platform. Hence the increased stress when seating a mag in the AR over the Swiss or AK magazine style firearms.

I'd be one for sure. It may hold 5 shots, but because it is clear, I can insert laminated photocopies of a stack of 5.56s so that it looks like a 30, but isn't.

See how our silly laws bring out the creativity in people? They are good for something after all.
