New Marlin 336, are they good again?

Have a quick look in the mirror.

Hey, I'm not the one firing sarcastic one -liners about Marlins.
I am not crazy about them either but I don't come out bad-mouthing them.
Why don't you try coming out with something interesting for a change instead of bad-mouthing stuff in your usual sarcastic fashion, I for one would enjoy that.

Our Canadian Tire has one in stock but it's not one I've seen before. It's a 336 in .30-30 but it has a dark brown laminate stock. I thought there were only the two types. The 336W with the "walnut finish" hardwood and the 336C with the american black walnut stock. The only laminate one's ive seen were on the 336BL which were more of a blonde colour and the grey one's on the stainless versions. Also the finish is more of a dull bead blasted finish than blued. It screams remington, and the fit and finish not bad. Anyone know what model this might be?

Well like most CT stores the staff is not very well educated about their products. Can't really expect them to be either, its not an actual gun shop. Nobody could tell me what model it was and they couldn't find the box it came in. I haven't seen it before on Marlin's website. Thinking it might be Remington's version? I don't know if all CT's will start carrying firearms again or not. Ours here in North Bay is apparently one of the major locations so they were one of the firsts to start carrying firearms. Even with the inflated prices and the lack of knowledgeable staff this is definitely a step in the right direction.

I bought an early 2012 336Y from Epps, It is a far better built gun than the last two JM built guns I bought. I know the guns built in the transition period were junk, but it seems they have things straightened out now.
