Well, for the longest time I have always been a real 10/22 fan and never really wanted to try any other semi-auto .22s because I figured nothing is really better than a 10/22 (I have owned a savage 64 before and it was very unreliable). Yesterday, I walked into my local gun shop and they had a Marlin Model 60 on display with a beautiful laminate stock for 180$. After staring at the gun for a good 20 mins, I decided to take the plunge and buy it for such a good price. What really sold me on the gun was the beautiful stock and the fact that the stock barrel was nice and thick for a .22 (about .750). After a good initial cleaning, I brought it to the range and had very low expectations. Gotta say I couldn't have been more suprised! The little gun didn't jam once and was extremely accurate. Since 10/22s go for about 260$ roughly, this little marlin is quite the value in comparison.

Lesson learned is to try new stuff an you might be pleasantly surprised!

....Or just listen to people who have been telling you and others about these rifles for ages!

Now put a half decent scope on it and observe what it can do at 100 (or more) meters. That would be your real prize. :)

That's a nice stock,I just got a 60 a couple months ago and love it.It was synthetic though so I ordered a laminate from Boyds. They are a very reliable, accurate gun and alot of fun to shoot.

I have a predecessor to the marlin 60. An old 990 with laminated stock. Got it because the stock was broken and metals in sad shape. I fixed the stock best i could and cleaned up the metals. Out to the range and was also very excited at its accuracy. It now is a constant truck gun and gophers hate it when it comes out. Congrats on getting such a great gun.

I picked one up Saturday here. Put 1100 rounds down in sat/sun only problem was with some bunk federal rounds and that was only twice. Accuracy is 100x better then the sr22 I had. I am very pleased with mine.

Colonel3006- WHats the weight with the boyds stock on it? I was thinking about one but dont want it to be any heavier then it is now. The weight is perfect as is.
