I'm looking at a henry in 45 LC to compliment my SAA in same. Always owned Marlins. Figured they were of good enough quality that if they slipped a wee bit it would be no biggy, but. From what I'm hearing they don't even measure up to "POOR"

Can I get the real goods on the new "Remlins" as I've heard them called

I've had several new marlins/remingtons over the past year or two including a model 60, 2 xt22's, rem 597, xl7vh in 22-250. All have been just fine. Thinking about getting a new 336 in 30-30. Was at the LGS checking them out. Only thing I didn't like about it was the bluing, if you can call it that. Not sure what it was, almost looked like parkerizing.

It seems to me that there are a few different factories producing the different stuff. This will give different results with respect to quality.

I have (with the past year and a half) bought two XT-22 rifles, one in .22lr and the other in .22 wmr. The former is a tack driver; the latter is pretty good out to about 115 yards, and then starts to come apart. Both are good quality, and I am happy with them.

The lever guns are a different story. From what I can piece together, Marlin has not made any 1894 lever guns for quite some time because they were so bad. The story is that they are trying to get the problems worked out. I have read many forum posts about rifles, being sold to customers, that should never have left the factory.

I have read similar things about their 1895 rifles.

As one gentleman put it, "This is what happens when bolt-gun guys try to make lever-guns!" I would tend to agree. :D

I have read that there will be another production run of the 1894 rifles late this year, or early next. I sure hope so, as I really want to lay my hands on a .357 mag and a .44 mag. I am just hoping the quality is there. Time will tell.

I purchased an 1894 in 357mag, that was made in 2012, and the fit and finish is every bit as good as on my JM stamped 1895SDT. The quality control seems to have been lacking from late in 2009, through 2011, but by 2012, most issues seem to have been resolved.

Some people swear by the Lyon Illinois stamp, or whatever city that was.. I don't think it matters.. as long as you purchase a new one that was made recently, there was a report of adjustment periods during the remmy merger, but now it seems to be back on track.

I am glad to hear some of you have been able to purchase new stock recently. This gives me hope I will be able to lay my hands on a couple of decent ones.

They're good to go now. I have a 1895 that's a very early Remlin, and a 2012 1894 and they are both perfect.
