Gravel Agency was very responsive for me as well. Too bad Marlington is relying on repair shops to cover for their apparent lack of QC.
Geez, and some folks go on and on about Chinese M14's and 1911's. 
These are supposed to be quality, or at least that's the propaganda. I had the same experience, bought a Remy pump and it blew casing apart at the head, Gravel replaced - waited 10 weeks though. Bought a Marlin 1895 Cowboy, and when wiping it clean the magazine tube wiggled out about 1/8". Yup...1/8"!
Gravel would replace. Called Marlin and they told me that they designed it to move, some bunk about a "free floating barrel". Took it to a gunsmith and he indicated that while the work was pathetic, overall, it was an easy fix. Was up to me, send it off and miss the CAS for the first part of the year, or fix it myself. I chose the latter.

I refused to believe the hype, so I sold my Guide Gun and bought a GBL. I returned it 5 hours later. It would not feed, chamber, extract , or eject without some sort of stoppage. It pushed the crimpped bullets into the cases of the dummy rounds I had made to test my 5470 with. I field stripped it and cleaned it, pulled the bore thru, reassembled it. No change. I detailed it, cleaned the innards.No change.
I returned to Wholesale. They were great, exchanged the rifle no questions. We ran a few factory cartridges thru it to ensure it functioned. It did. Here's hoping Ill hove no problems when I go live.
I sure hope Remmington pulls their head out. I love my Marlins.
Edit: I intended on buying a ruger #1 but verry suddenly missed my guide gun after selling it, so purchased the gbl. I hope i didnt sell a ggo marlin just to repace it waith a bad one.

Mine is also a 2009, but barrel is stamped JM.
91 indicates made in 2009!
REP is a Remlin...JM is a Marlin!!

1895gbl
My new 1895 GBL operates and shoots as good as my old guide gun and my Glenfield 30A. No problems today with 40 rounds (20 factory remmington 300 JHPs, and 20 Handloads.) I guess the one I returned was a lemon, but I am very satisfied with the replacement. This rifle is a definate keeper.
