New Marstar NP29, initial trial & photos

I dehorned it, contoured the rear sight out how I wanted, put some cuts in the front of the trigger guard for an index finger hold (I like to grip that way), then stripped it down and sent it to a good buddy who parkerized it a deep charcoal black (he's not looking for more jobs, sorry :p ).

Parts wise it received a skeletonized hammer (McCormick), extended skeletonized aluminum trigger with overtravel adjustment, new slide stop (not a fan of the extended type), full length guide rod, carbon fiber grips, and that's about it for now. I have a bull barrel coming, but need to cut the frame for the ramp still. The Norinco safety and beavertail are quite good and I used them.

Trigger is a smooth 3.5lbs, and it runs like a dream, looks good beside even my Kimbers. And it's still a 'cheap' gun. All in all I'm pleased.
 
Thanks Ardent. I think you may be my inspiration for a little project of my own! One question though...how did you remove the norinco crap(lettering) from the slide?

Technically you are not allowed to remove any markings from a firearm intentionally, they kind of just dissapeared in the refinishing naturally. ;)

I think it's the serial number only that applies to... ;)
 
I like mine!
No modifications so far... just some de-burring.
It has a stiff trigger (8-12 pounds), but most GI come like that too.
put about 150 rounds thru it at the range the other day.
Flawless functioning.tried about 4 brands... Chambered HP s as well.
I believe it was American Eagle that didn't lock the slide open after the last round, but that could be a lower velocity bullet, and the pistol is new, so I'll give it some time before I'll try those again.

Pretty pleasant to shoot.
I like it, and that is enough to say Good job Marstar.

GI trigger is usually 4-6lb, with 5lb being normal in my experience...
 
HH: That looks like it would make a nifty CCW weapon, if only our gov't trusted its citizens...

Definitely the minimalist look but with all the right changes to make it run better :)

Is that the Norinco BT, or an after-market?

Frt sight dovetailed or staked?
 
Just at tip I picked up with the 9MM 1911's. Put a 10# recoil spring in them. You will find the slide will occassionally not lock back on the last round due to the recoil spring being to heavy. Replaced my spring in my Trojan and solved the problem instantly.

Its a norinco B/T, and i was surprised how nice it was, the front sight is staked in place

it sure is a nice little gun for not much money

Have about 450 rounds through my NP29 now. It is a fine shooter, very easy to manage. Delivered cost, including taxes and post was about $400. 5 MetalForm magazines came to about $90, got a pair of Hogues from Hungry for $20. Will install new sights, perhaps $30. Say $540,all up. Pretty hard to beat for all new.
